Hi i am just introducing myself I am visiting florida for the first time on the 27 September to 11 October. There are 2 adults travelling one child and one teenager, we are staying at the vista cay apartments so we are able to have food occasionally at the apartments, but would like to have suggestions as to how much spending money to take with us. We are wanting to enjoy ourselves as well.:wavey:

Hi and welcome to the Dibb. You are going at the same time as us!!!
It is difficult to say how much money you will need as everyone spends differently. We have the free DPP so don't have to worry about food. We are taking about $1500 simply to spend on goodies etc.

Hi and welcome to the dibb :wavey: Spending money is a hard question to answer as everybodys needs are different. If you go on search and put in "spending money" you will find some answers.
We always take too much, but too much is better than not enough.

Hello Jenny and welcome to the dibb  Last year was our first trip to florida and there was 2 adults and 2 kids (5 and 9). We took £2000 and ate out every morning, lunch and dinner, we bought loads of stuff for me;) and the kids and still came home with about £600. The food over there is very reasonable, we also bought the kids go free card which saved us quite a bit on our food bills.
I suppose everyone has their own budget but a good tip which i got from here was to seperate you spending money into 14 different envelopes and what ever you have left at the end of that day put it into and envelope marked 15. It really does help you keep an eye on what your spending on a day to day basis.
Good luck with your planning:thumbs-up

Hi and welcome to the dibb.
What we do with spending money is work out approximate food and drink expenditure for each day (have a look at some of the menus on here to give you an idea of price etc) and put it in envelopes for each day (plus a little extra just in case!) and then we put extra money away for gifts etc - this depends on what we can afford.
Happy planning.

Hi Jenny
Some people like to go mad and others budget so it varies with spending money. If you want to do some serious shopping then I'd take an extra few hundred pounds purely for that but this time we're taking $2,500. We have already pre-booked our theme park tickets, car etc so this will mainly be everyday money for food and drink etc. But there's only 2 of us going..
See you there! You picked a great time to go. Are you going to Halloween Horror Nights?? :o:

:wavey: Hello! Someone mentioned taking notes.........I started with a pad of post-its, but have progressed to an A4 pad! :d: This site is amazing for tips. We are going in Oct for the first time and really appreciate all the help on here.
Can I ask about the DDP.......do you have to be in a Disney hotel to use it?
Also, the kids eat free cards.......where would I get those?

Hi welcome to the Dibb. It's great you are going to Disney. We took £2000 in 2006 for 2 adults and 2 children. We didn't want to have to budget really as we thought it would be the only time we would go so wanted to go crazy!!! We did as well - mind you we are going again in 2009. Everybody I know who goes to Disney always think it is their only time, but always end up going back again. It is so addictive. Have a great time.:cool2:
