Our eldest will be 13 when we go in August. As such he is to old for kids menus but his appetite isn't big enough to deal with the huge adult size portions. As anyone got experience of restaurants that will serve smaller size portions of adult meals?

Our teens often split meals as neither eats a full adult size portion. We find that 2 main courses can often feed 4 of us. Most restaurants are happy to split meals if you ask them, just be bit more generous with the tip for their trouble.

Some restaurants have 'lighter portions' menus not the full choice of the main menu but not typical kiddie fare either. TGI's comes to mind as an example.

I know what you mean about mid size meals - however 2 years ago our two boys were 13 and 11 year old but servers still offered kids meals if we wanted .......depending on how hungry they were they would sometimes take option of kids, sometimes adult size ...... This year eldest will be 15 and will probably eat more than me

My 12 year old will be on kids meals because the portions are still very generous.

In Feb we quite often ordered 2 kids and 2 adults meals, kids for me and ds (11) and adult for dh and dd(now 17)!! They are not as strict over there as we seem to be here. I remember ordering from subway once (in Bangor Wales I think) and I had to produce the kids to get the kids meals!! Lets face it, it isn't the cost always its the waste when you know you just can't eat the huge portions they give you, mind you they are also better about giving you a "doggy bag" than we are over here. Another option we quite often go for is just the starters and desserts and miss out a main!!
