Have stayed in Lbv, loved it, international drive pointe orlando very convenient, and universal end of I drive, great hotel but a fair way to the disney parks , this time we would like a bit more space and are considering a villa but they all seem to be in the Kissimee area. please can you give me your opinions, will we feel isolated? Is there much within walking distance etc
Thanks Ceri

If you stay in a villa then in all truthfullness you need a car .There will be some communities within walking distance of the 192 or of strip malls on the 27 near the intersection with the 192 but you will not be able to walk to the parks. One ray of hope -there is talk of a shuttle bus starting up along the 27 but it is only talk at the moment as far as I know

Jan's absolutely right... all of the 'communities' we've seen and stayed on are like large, anonymous estates quite some distance from anywhere...the Americans only really consider drivers when they plan these things.

I would heartily recommend a villa, but you will have to drive.

We stayed in Kissimmee last October and yes it is a distance from the parks but there was a shopping centre about a 5 min walk with a dozen or so shops and restaurants there. Like publix and a pizza place. I think you just need to reasearch what area you are going to book. But you will definately need a car:D

ceri... make no mistakes..the Kissimmee area/highway 192 is very convenient, but pretty charmless. It's like a tropical version of the Golden Mile in Blackpool! (there are palm trees!:p:)But as a place to stay and get easily to the main centres and parks, it's hard to beat.

You'll not be spending much time there anyway.... if it sounds right for you, pick some specific locations of villas etc and ask everyone what's next door and around them.

Ceri, we always stay in Kissimmee, you are near a large Walmart, plenty of all you can eat places, Mcdonalds are all up the 192, if you are up anywhere near Splendid China ( which as now closed down ) you can use the Black Lake rd or Sherberth rd short cut to Disney :jump:

Like you we love LBV.
Tried a villa last time and felt isolated.
This year we are staying at Cypress Pointe Resort in LBV
It has three bedrooms and bathrooms, a lounge and a full kitchen, so we feel we are getting the space we need in an area we love.

Hope this helps

We stayed in a villa in Kissimee on our last visit, but are going back to I Drive this time. That tells you something.

We felt very isolated and tended to go out less at night due to being tired after visiting parks. It was such a pain having to drive everywhere, as you will usually find that there are no pavements on back roads and it was just too far to walk.

Also, if you are intending to have a drink  at night bars would not be on your doorstep, as is good with other area's.
