There was a shuttle launch scheduled for 4th Dec which is when we will be there, but lately it has been showing on the NASA site as being 'under review'. Just checked now and there are no details there at all for 4th Dec so guess that gives us an extra Disney day now.
We have been lucky enought to see one shuttle launch, but our dd (7 by the time we go) was really looking forward to it, having been allowed to stay up late to watch the last one on TV. Good job we prepared her for the fact it could be cancelled.
So, that gives us an extra day to fill now, best get back to the planning.

Fingers crossed for you. I do feel very lucky that I have seen one already so I can't really complain on that front, just would loved to have seen our dd's faces/reactions.

Yes it is very disapointing when they are cancelled. We went in 2006 and booked to watch Atlantis go up. However it was delayed so we just did the next thing on the itinerary and then had to get up at 6.30am every morning to await the announcement as to whether it was on that day so we could get ourselves to Space Kennedy in time. So having had it booked for the first day, it ended up where we were lucky enough to have it scheduled for out last day ! Yippee we thought and off we went and sat in the scorching heat for a few hours only to have it cancelled again.:angry:
In the end it took off in the afternoon that we had flown back to UK in the morning. We did waste a lot of time trying to see it go up but Im sure had it happened, it wouldve been fantastic.

Darn, I knew this was a possibility, but I seem to be jinxed when trying to see a shuttle launch! I've missed 3 before, now this makes 4 (mind you it's a bit more notice than last December when we actually drove out to Titusville and spent a few days afterwards constantly checking news reports until it was postponed for weeks). Never mind, just have to plan again for 2009 I suppose (what can one do ;))

Another cancellation? Everytime we have been to Florida there has been a launch due,and every time it has been delayed until after we come home.We are planning to go the first 2 weeks in December so it looks like we will miss another launch :(

We have been lucky enough to see two launches but not this time :( The shuttle scheduled for 28th August was put back to October I think. Still its no loss what a friend gets, some other dibbers will get to see it. :)

Looks like the last Shuttle Launch of the year will be on 10th November.
Being selfish, i hope it gets delayed until early December as it's DH's dream to see a live launch.

There is a rocket launch scheduled for the 1st December if that's any consolation?

DH has been watching out and we too are gutted about this cancellation. We've been pretty lucky and have caught 2 on previous trips.

1st was on our arrival at Sanford Airport in 2001 where we just saw it from the transfer.

The second was sooooooo cool! 4th July 2006 whilst on a "flamingo boat" on the lake at Seaworld. The whole countdown was relayed throughout the park and the atmosphere was electric. We even got a pretty decent photo!:spin:

When the last launch happened the launch pad suffered some damage and until they can get that resolved they are having to push dates. Since the program is coming to an end they are trying to get as many launches complete as possible. I think they have to change the status of the launches when stuff like this happens. It typically delays the launch one way or the other.

It is a great thing to see....keep trying and hopefully some of you will manage to see it.
