Anybody aware of any organisations in the Kissimmee area that would accept any food items that we may have left over from our holiday ?

Management company in villa we are staying in just now throw all items out between renters, understand why and their position but seems a waste when there are bound to be some folks who would appreciate it.

Naturally try to buy only what we think we will consume but bound to be something left at end of our holiday.

TIA

Sorry, i'm not sure if there is a local collection near to where you are staying.

In my experience the cleaners take any good left over food. Its a perk of the job.

I'm confused as to why there is any leftover food, apart from maybe a nearly empty cereal packet?

When we stay in a villa we do eat in quite a lot and do have items - usually frozen left over.

Oh and yes some cereal too.

Last week we left and there were 30 cans of Bud left:omg: DH would have sneaked it in the cases if he could. We threw away dated items like milk, bread, butter ect. We left things like cereal, coffee, sugar, tea bags, ice poles, biscuits ect. Probably the cleaner goes away with them:)

We always throw away any perishables and leave the rest for the cleaners to take. Theirs is a low paid and thankless job so we figure they deserve their little 'perk'

As other owners have said perishables are disposed of but I think you'll find that the poorly paid cleaners happily take any other items of food.

Previously we have left non-perishables for cleaners or follow-on guests, however know that all food is bagged and thrown out with this management company, so thought I'd see if there was somewhere that they could be used instead of getting wasted.

They do not even leave any condiments or part started detergents etc.

Thanks for the earlier foodbank link, I had done a quick search before posting and come up with some of these also, although looked like financial donations were what they were after more than actual food. Will take another look in case though.

Thanks

I also leave any food for the cleaners. As like in previous posts its always cereal we bought two boxes of frostie like things there last year as that is what they like at home my boys never even opened the boxes.

When we went in Feb, we didn't have a lot of food left over but we did have some bottles of beer left and we gave it to our next door neighbours (who we got quite friendly with) :thumbs-up

This is a tough one really. A lot of places won't take food items and we have food drives throughout the year but you have to turn it in a certain way. I will say that if you have a church near your villa and the items are mainly can goods you could always leave it at the door. They generally all have food banks of their own and pass out food to members in need. Outside of that you could look for a yellow flashing light at an intersection as they are indicators for the fire department. You can stop in and see if you can leave it with them. They generally could pass it on as they typically help their surrounding area residents.
