I have been losing the Dibb over the past couple of days but it usually only lasts for 5 mins or so.

But it doesn't seem to affect any of the other websites I go on.:confused2

I am a user of Firefox, much better than IE. Faster, safer, more tools for it, I love it.

Have you just downloaded the latest Windows update?
I did today and it blocked my internet access - had to uninstall it - on another thread a few other Dibbers have had the same problem and had to get rid of it.

I use Firefox too, but no browser would work, I had no internet on my PC (still had lappy thank goodness)

Time to ditch IE and move to Firefox - it's quicker, more secure and offers a better browsing experience IMHO.

I went away from Firefox when IE7 came out, but I thought I'd give it another go and am amazed how much quicker it is! I do grocery shopping online with tesco and it is so sloooooow with IE, Firefox flies :)

This is probably the cause of it.

Yes -why?
Is it to do with that?
Windows firewall is useless!

Good old Microsoft

Aha - thank you. It is wrong that PC users are not contacting Microsoft about this issue - I emailed them about it and I bet I'm not alone!
I've uninstalled the update for now and will wait for the fix if they issue one!

Yeah after one of the patches in windows update is applied zone alarm blocks internet access if you have the firewall security level set to high, if you lower it to medium it allows access. This has been fixed now, just need to download the upated version of Zone Alarm.

Unfortunately it's not microsofts problem the problem is with Zone Alarm so it's down to them to fix, which they have.

My misinterpretation - but I agree with the Zone Alarm chappie in that article, you would have thought that Microsoft would have tested the update against other firewalls?

Hi Just read the last few threads with great interest. Didn't know about the problem with microsoft update we just thought it was zone alarm blocking us out of the internet so DH turned of zonealarm firewall and switched on windows firewall. I will give him this information many thanks.

Surprise, surprise - Microsoft's reply to my email was to say disable any other firewall and use theirs - not likely!

I use AVG 8 and Windows Firewall and have done the windows update and have had no problems at all, also the new version of IE whichever number it is now.
Also have windows Defender running aswell
