Hi All, after a recent re-install of Windows I also re-installed MS office.
When I try and run MS word I get the error seen here (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/Hammerbear/Snap2-1.jpg)
If I try a couple of times eventually it will open.
Any ideas anyone ?

have you googled the message? "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is opened"

first few links are knowledge base articles from MS with possible solutions...

Hmmm, tried a couple of those solutions with no joy.
I have just noticed that this only happens if I open a file saved on the desktop.
If I open MS word via start menu-programs I dont get this problem ?

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling Word.

Ted I can tell you exactly what that means.

All it is is that you have the window open trying to do something else in word in another window. That sounds as clear as mud I know but what that message refers to is the window you get when you click "file then save" for example. What I am guessing you have done is tried to open it within word and couldn't find it so clicked on the document but forgotten to close the open window first. Word calls these dialog boxes.

Uninstalled MS office then re-installed and then installed the update for SP3.
seems ok now.
