AVG scanning [Archive]

Fellow AVG users please help me :confused2

I'm sure it really shouldn't be taking 4 hours to do the scanning thing.....should it?

There's an option to tick which parts of the computer I want to scan. As I'm not sure which bits re safe I end up letting AVG can the whole lot.

Am I doing right? or wrong?

I takes mine 1 hour 40-50 mins to scan my desktop and I have hardly anything on it!

AVG takes over 2 hours to scan our PC and we have tones of 'stuff' on there. Four hours does sound excessive.

Thanks both. Maybe it doesn't help that there are 4 of us using the same pc with all our different i-tunes music on? I really don't know lol

Mine starts scanning at 8am and doesn't finish till 10:30am or later.

There is only DH & I use this pc.

have you upgraded to the new one yet.. the old one used to take an age to scan but this one flies through both of ours

Looking at the scan results on my PC it takes around 2 1/2 hrs to scan mine, thats around 988500 objects,

Have a look at your scan history, compare the objects scannned with the time taken, this should indicate wether it is taking a long time or is about right.

Yes have the latest version

Didn't think to do that Tim. Latest scan had 102478 objects and took 4 1/4 hours. Sound about right length of time?

Oooops bit of a numpty moment not 102478 items but 1024728 items :blush: looks about right then really
