Ok, I know this is very sad, but here goes.

Took DW and all three DD to see the film Mamma Mia on Friday.
After 3 minutes I was ready to leave, but stuck it out and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole camp romp

We go to Florida in three weeks and just looking around, have seen the stage show of Mamma Mia is on whilst we are there, at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.

Question is, has anyone been here and seen a show, or does anyone know if the touring show is any good?.

Cheers

Adrian

I've seen the touring show twice in The Point in Dublin over the last few years. Absolutely fabulous! I saw the documentary about the show on ITV last weekend and if the clips on that were anything to go by I don't think that the touring show is any different to the permanently based one in London etc.

I've been to the Bob Carr many times and it is a good theatre for shows. You can book online via Ticketmaster.

I suggest that you use the valet option at the Marriott across the street. Even if you are doing a taxi this is a good drop off point. The theatre is literally across the street from the hotel and it is an easy and safe option. Parking can be difficult if there is anything on at the arena which is next door.

saw the film yesterday with DW - she loved it and I also thought it was great. Think the poor singing by some stars makes it better.

would love to see the stage show.

just got back from watching the film -took my mum and daughter-and we all thought it was great fun.

Meryl Streep surprised me with her singing voice,Julie Walters was......Julie Walters(v.funny) and Pierce Brosnan can't hold a note but is still gorgeous!

Just bought the soundtrack cd in Tesco today

if that's from the film, much as I enjoyed the movie, not sure I would enjoy listening to the soundtrack as sung by the movie stars :)

I thought Julie Walters was outstanding in the film.

As we're going down to Gatwick the night before the flight I've booked for us to see it in the West End bargain at £43 for the two of us. Tried a few years ago to get tickets and they were so expensive.

question now is do I see the film before the show or not???

I keep thinking this - but I have decided to see the show first then either see the film or buy the DVD when it comes out.

Well I just got back from the cinema with Little Monkey and we loved loved loved it! We have both seen the show so we were clapping and singing along at the end but some of our audience were a bit older and rather po-faced about it all so we are going to go again and take our DD's as well, think we need to go mob-handed to get that audience out of their seats!! :D :D

Hi, saw the show in Las Vegas and it was brilliant. Took 10yr daughter to see film on saturday and she thought it was great. Would love to take her to see the stage show and as we are going to Florida on 6th August for 4 weeks would be a great night out.

How do you find out about the tickets?

Many thanks

Hi

If you go to Ticketmaster.com and type in Mamma Mia.

Don't select the touring option, just the normal Mamma Mia tickets. You will then see the Orlando dates, 12th to 17th August.
See you there:grin:

Yes - having seen the stage show I can only re-iterate what others have said - go and see the movie!!:d:It was brilliant thoroughly enjoyed it..had a great laugh. As Diane said our audience were a little 'reserved' (why dont people like to be seen having fun??)....it was packed out with all women bar a few 'brave' men:pgig:
I thought all the actors done really well especially Julie Walters but the men Colin Firth Piers Brosner etc done very well in parts they are not usually seen to be doing...
The scenery is stunning and I have already started doing a search on Google as a possible holiday destination. The film is going to do wonders for the Greek Tourist business!!!!
