I watched a travel show yesterday that featured Winter Park and Orlando. Normally I know everything they are talking about but this time they had something new and I thought this would probably be something a lot of Dibbers would enjoy. I know quite a few Dibbers go to Winter Park to walk the gift shops on Park Avenue, tour the Morse Museum (home to one of the largest Tiffany collections) and take the boat tour. Well, if you are a wine lover you simply really must go to The Wine Room (http://www.thewineroomonline.com/). It really looked fantastic!

The Wine Room is the largest wine tasting establishment in the country. From their website:

Welcome to The Wine Room on Park Avenue, in Winter Park, Florida. Here, in this unique combination of wine bar and wine shop, buying and tasting wine becomes a completely involving experience. Our state-of-the-art Enomatic dispensing system allows you to sample up to 150 wines in 1, 2.5 or 5 ounce portions. Then, when you find one or more that you prefer, you may purchase your wine by the bottle, and/or sip your selections in a cozy setting of leather sofas and armchairs. While you’re relaxing, you can complement your wine choices with a selection of hand-crafted meats and cheeses. Let The Wine Room be your guide as you explore the delectable and delightful world of wine by the glass or by the bottle.

If you look at the website you'll see the wine set up on a circular display. What you do is put your card (you purchase a store card and top up the card to whatever amount you want) into the slot and you then pick the wine that you want to sample. Each wine has a different cost and depending on which wine and how many ounces you buy it deducts it from your card. Very easy and a great way to try different wines.

I hope someone gives this a try and then posts their experiences. I will be checking it out as well.

If you remind me nearer the day I will call both places and double check their hours since it is a holiday you think you will go on. They may not put special hours on their website...if they have any.

It is an American program shown on our Travel Channel. The host is Samantha Brown and she travels all over the world. They do have some episodes up on the website but this wasn't one of them (that I could see). They did advertise a podcast about Cocoa Beach and mentioned canoeing. It might be a good website to take a look at.

I'd recommend going to WP on a Sat morning for the local market. It's got a really genuine local feel about it, homemade cakes etc.

Wine Room sounds excellent but doesn't fit with me being the driver, doh!
