Uptown Altamonte

has anybody heard of or been to uptown altamonte, it is an outdoor shopping precinct/mall. it looks quite attractive?

It is next door to the Altamonte Mall and is visible from I-4. It is two exits from the Sanford Airport exit to give you some idea of where it is located. (I pass it every day to/from work).

They have several nice restaurants and a bit of strip mall shopping. There is also a cinema here and of course the mall itself.

when we all first started to go to orlando, altamonte was the only mall! ds liked the pet shop there, i wasn't quite sure. used to go along the ? apopka road a way to that wonderful christmas shop, still have the big tree we manhandled home. fudruckers was the best place ever for burgers. just seen the uptown altamante bit, will def. visit. early morning to sanford flea market then there on the way home.

It's the area I grew up in so I know it well.

The Altamonte Exit is S.R. 436. If you head west it will take you to Apopka and all the way up towards Mt. Dora / Leesburg. If you head east it dead ends at the Orando International Airport. It's 19 miles to the airport with lights all the way.

I'm sure you'd enjoy going back since you are familiar to the area but I think they've made it sound a bit better than it is. It's just shopping and restaurants really. Nice to be away from the tourist corridor though.

We always visit the Altamonte Mall. I think it is a bit cheaper than the Florida Mall:grin:

Same here and as they have a Build A Bear the kids don't mind going to this one. I also noticed that there is a Sweet Tomato at Altamonte now so we'll be checking this one out next week :D

We like it as it is less "touristy" than the Florida mall. Same shops, different shoppers.

First time we went there they still had a drive in cinema! that was fun, apart from the mossies!
