View Full Version : Animal Kingdom Lodge building work
If anone's staying at AKL soon and is concerned about the building work....don't be. We've just come back and to be honest never heard anything. Admittedly we were at the far end of the Zebra Trail, the opposite end from the work, but even at the pool, in the middle of the hotel, we never heard anything.
Enjoy.

I am just back too and can confirm that there was little/no noise.
However if you get offered a room on Sunset Savannah - then ask for a different area. The 'view' is awful (wish I took a picture now) - cranes, boarding, building site mess etc. and very few animals.
We insisted on a room at Arusha even though we had to wait an extra 5 hours to get in, but it was a fantastic view and definitely worth the wait.

Yep this is where they stuck us - they had no other Savannah views left so they offered us $ compensations instead. The whole of the lodge is going to be worked on over the next 9 months - it's moving around slowly so make sure you as for a non construction room when you check in!

My DH dug his heels in and after 3 rooms finally was happy with the 4th that they showed. On the Zebra trail 4th floor. No cranes, car parks or animal pens! These were the first 3 views!
Certainly we never heard anything from the building work, so we were very happy.
Hi, i was wondering if you could tell me please whether you had paid extra for the savannah views or if you can also request this having only booked standard. I thought i'd ask here rather than starting a new thread.
Many thanks.

We have stayed here 3 times and have always had a savannah room without paying for it. Staying there again in a few weeks and now i've said that I bet we don't get one this time!!:d:
So Arusha Savannah (not Sunset) Zebra trail,4th floor is a good view. Is it possible to request in advance of arrival? We won't get there til 5pm ish.
Thanks Swoody for the reply, I do hope my question hasn't now jinxed you :( . Would you recommend emailing and asking for a specific block or do you just normally leave it and hope for the best as you've only booked standard. Many thanks again and i apologise for going off topic.
