View Full Version : What else to do a Clearwater
Besides the Seascreamer and spending time on the beach what else is there to do for a day trip.
Which restaurants would you recommend there, or is there anywhere we could call on the way back that is good.
We went on the coach for a day trip back in 04, so can't remember details. I know there are shops - mostly the cheapy souvenir sort. There is also the pier that is famous for watching the sunset from , but we left just before it got dark, so didn't see it. We had lunch included- a buffet at the Hilton, not sure if it's available to the general public. There is also a cafe at the land end of the pier where we got ice creams and drinks. Can't remember how old you said your kids were- but there is a kids playground that is great for little ones.
Just remembered, there was a band playing (pop/rock ) also nr the pier, DH listened to them for way too long :D

We went to a lovely resturaunt called"Back Water" as I wasnt driving could give you directions but it was in a block with some shops, probably the nicest meal I had all week.
Thanks our DS is 14 so a bit old for the playground, more into his Xbox:nonono: His initial reaction was he didn't like the idea of a day away from the parks, although now he's looked at the Seascreamer he likes the sound of it more.
I think it should be a nice relaxing day, a ride on the Seacreamer and a wander round before a nice meal somewhere :)

You need to eat at `Frenchys` :tounge: its a shack like cafe - excellent seafood at ridiculous prices - freindly atmosphere - just fab !!!
Its virtually on the beach not far down from the pier........:wavey:

We love going round the marine aquarium - a great way to spend a couple of hours

Spend a little time near the pier, it's great sipping a nice cool drinky at sunset.
Take a dolphin watching cruise - there are a number available from both Clearwater and St Pete Beach.
The Suncoast Bird Sanctuary is a nice little trip out if you like birds, especially pelicans:)
Or just enjoy chilling out on the beach:d:

We are planning to go to Clearwater when we go in December - This thread has given me loads of ideas!
xx
Have a look at this website. :-) www.floridasbeach.com A nice place to eat is the beachside grill and bar at The Palm Pavilion. www.palmpavilion.com
We went to Britts Laguna Grill (http://www.brittslagunagrill.com/) last August and loved the food and the service. Bet you can't eat their house burger ... it's HUGE!
Judy - don't listen to your sons protestations, get him on the back of the Sea Screamer and then see if he complains! This is better than fiddling with a joypad ... or being stuck in a hot queue in a theme park!
