View Full Version : Bags and universal parks?
Which rides at universal can you not take a bag on? Don't really want to rent a locker, so might just get a money belt.
Mummy and Men in black definately don't , a bumbag will not be allowed either but I guess a moneybelt underclothes wouldn't be seen . They don't cost anything though when you get a locker.

The Mummy and Men In Black are the ones i remember. Those lockers were a right pain
Lockers at Universal are free just a pain to use and can be problematic. However there are some rides that they won't even let you take a bum bag on. The Mummy is one. The rides banning bags have lockers outside.
As far as I can remember the rides with no bags allowed which I have been on are The Hulk, The Mummy, Men in Black, Duelling Dragons. There will be more but I can't remember.
Will have to get a money belt then.
The lockers are free for 2 hours I seem to remember. Is that still the case?

Yep :) The lockers are still free and are situated right outside each ride - its really no big deal to put a bag in them before joining a queue and might take you an extra 20seconds or so! :d:

I've never had any problems using the free lockers, it's just worth remembering to do so as if you go to get in the queues with a bag, the CMs will turn away sending you to the lockers.

Oh I don't know, at peak times there is often a good scrum going on and sometimes a wait for a free locker, or at least one you can get to recognise your fingerprint, it can be a bit frustrating.
The mummy one seems to be the worse for crowding.
Well we're staying at HRH so won't need to take lots of stuff around the parks with us. Think I will look for a cheap money belt to keep money and tickets in. We won't need to have our passports with us everyday?

we just put our backpack in the lockers, took 30 secs and was quite fun putting our finger prints in! Just remember the number! LOL

The week before last, the locker system broke down at MIB and they still wouldn't let anyone ride with a bag :confused2
One poor soul got all the way to the ride with a camera bag, sat down and was promptly chucked off again :D

Always use the lockers for these rides, never had a problem with them. Funny thing happened one year, my daughter and her dad had gone to put the bags in the lockers at men in black, and there was this guy walking around all dressed up and on stilts, myself and younger daughter were waiting for them near the ride, the guy came up to us and said who are you waiting for so we said there names and he stood there and shouted my daughters name out really loud, she was so embarressed, but me and my other daughter were in fits of laughter, love this ride.

I've never had a problem on any ride wearing a bumbag, have never needed to leave it in a locker.
Even Sheikra, where I especially stopped to ask an attendant if it was OK.

Have you managed to ride MIB and the Mummy with a bumbag ? they are usually very strict on those rides about letting passengers on with those.
I bought a money belt from Tesco today so will use that at Universal, not sure if camera will fit in it though. OH can shove camera in his pocket.

Lockers at Universal are definitely not free; its $2 upfront and then when you return, if you've gone over an hour you need cash to open the locker, and the amount owing soon adds up; so remember to keep some cash on you

If you're going on Men In Black, make sure his pocket is zippable, my friend lost his sunglasses from his pocket when the car spins around.

Yep has a zipped pocket. I can't wait to go on men in black:spin:

I am going to try my Kipling Milanos bag when we go at Christmas (bought especially for the occasion ;))
Can be worn as a shoulder bag, cross body, or like a bumbag - like I said earlier, I've never had a problem on any ride with a bumbag.

picture the scene....the Hulk launches at 0-60 in 3 secs and starts its first loop....cue the sight of a pair of sun glasses flying off into the air....we were going so fast, that we looped all the way round them before they hit the safety net....still dnn't know who lost them but everyone was coming off the ride killing themselves with laughter :pgig:

Lockers at the rides that require you to store your stuff are free while you ride. The free lockers are at MIB, Mummy, Hulk, and Dueling Dragons. Those are the only rides that require you to store bags.
Loose items need to be placed in lockers. If you have cargo pants (w/ zippered pockets), then that would be OK. You don't want to lose you camera and you don't want it to become a flying object that hits someone else.
Don't talk to me about those bloomin' lockers at Universal! We had all sorts of problems with the ones outside Mummy. It was our first encounter admitted, but after we finally got one to open for us, the return was such a pain I'm dreading it again this year. Basically it wouldn't recognise our print and there were no CM's anywhere to help. It took a good 45 minutes to finally get it open!
Be careful not to choose the ones facing the sun...you can't read the screen!
Can anyone post the definitive process for using these things.... please? :)
