View Full Version : Does anyone manage not taking a bag around the parks?

I have bought a money belt for money, tickets etc. Will wear my camera. If suncream will fit in the money bag is there anything I'm missing.

Will we get away with just suncream on the morning?

Flo

Ok suncream fits, we need to show ID to activate Universal tickets, but we won't need ID for Disney parks will we, we have real Disney tickets already.

I've never managed it, so good luck with that! I wear a Kipling Multiple bumbag, that is just about big enough for camera, passes, money, sunglasses, tissues, lipstick, suncream. I guess I could buy some shorts with big pockets! ;) :pgig:

...only if DH carries one!

Though TBH, we have cut down a lot on what we used to take at first, we do take one backpack which we take turns carrying - but that's because we like to take a picnic some days. I also have a very small shoulder bag that I wear accross my body with the tickets & cash in.

We can do it fairly easily, but I only really have shorts that have loads of zipped pockets. In the past I've managed to carry our compact camera, to lots of sunglasses, a small bottle of sun lotion and my wallet without it being any trouble. It'll be even easier at Disney next visit as we are staying on site so we don't have to worry about taking any money out with us. :D

We don't always go around the parks bagless though, I do have my camera bag with me, but I only plan on using my DSLR and camcorder on a few days, so most of the time we should be fairly free from any baggage.

I don't like to take much more than my bumbag, now the kids are getting bigger it is easier, when they are tinier you seem to needs loads of 'stuff' to get through the day. next trip will be our first non-stroller trip and we will be travelling light.

Try taking 2 kids under 4 and a bag would be the least of your worries...only joking have a great time.

Same as Mazzy for me - add plasters, emery board and brufen (just in case!)

Managed IOA with just park passes once! But then the intention was to do all the main coasters, then get soaked and go back to RPR to change:D

No we had a rucksack as there was four of us, which contained suntan lotion, waterproofs and something incase it got a bit chilly (we went the end of October last time) I also took a bag wallet which contained the park tickets, passports and money. I didn't trust these in the rucksack as you here about people having things taken out of them whilst there on thier backs.

It can be done - but don't forget to take water, you'll need plenty to drink in the heat and pop/bottled water inside the parks is expensive.

Sue - omg, yes forgot about the pen, just in case we see anyone famous, and my tiny little notebook! :pgig:

Just had a look at Kipling Multiple bumbag - looks good Mazzy so have just ordered one in Kipling sale for £16 with free P&P!!! I had been on the lookout for a bag that was "just" big enough and this seems to fit the bill - nice one:thumbs-up

Treena - wow you go a bargain there! :thumbs-up Yep it's a great bag, and converts to an across body bag or a shoulder bag, in fact it's the only bag I take with me to Orlando - saves the room in the suitcases for the new ones I buy! ;) :pgig:

Mazzy, do you mind me asking how big the bag can be adjusted to fit around the waist? I'm a size 16 and have found that bumbags are often too small?

I have a very old one now and really could do with a new one for this trip!

Thanks :wavey:

Thanks again:wavey:

Kate - it should be fine, I wore it last August and was a 'good' size 16 then, so I can't see you having a problem. :D

We never take bags - I shudder at the thought!

My little skirts have pockets and my boyfriend has shorts with zipped pockets. He pockets a small packet of suncream for the day and a few dollars and I keep my lipbalm, small comb. All the important stuff goes in the locker.

How did you get one for £16 - I have looked at them and all I get quoted is the £32:confused2 I can see all the others at half price but not the Multiple.
I have one already but thought I'd get a spare at that price:)

We find it hard to go to the parks without a bag but then we have 2 kids and seem to need to take a small mountain of stuff into the parks - 2 x autograph books and pens, 2 x pressed penny holders, 4 x rain ponchos etc. Sometimes we also need to take a change of clothes if the kids are going to be playing in fountains etc. I know you can leave all this in lockers but I can't be bothered with all that walking in the heat. We also seem to gather up alot of stuff during the day and the rucksack is handy to throw everything into.

24 Jul 08, 11:10 PM
Wish we didn't take a rucksack, but it has many benefits! We carry the usual camera, camcorder, wipes and such like, but we also take in a small cooler bag with just enough room for three bottles of water and some chocolate bars with a freezer pack in there. Sure it weighs me down (always me! :) ), but I find it has a hidden bonus which I keep very quite about....the freezer bag slowly looses it's cold via my back if I position it just right :d:

I'm sure DW and DD must be slightly confused as to why my back is the only place without a sweat patch!

So with a nicely chilled back but a 'hard done to' expression, I will soak up all the sympathy I can ....all day long. Or at least until the freezer pack finally gives in :)

I try not to take a bag..............but then there is the camera, my purse, autograph book, pen, spare clothes for my daughter, suncream x 2, drink, lipbalm, tissues, map, poncho, plasters, sun hats and my pockets are only tiny, so bag it usually is! The lockers at the parks are good so I would recommend putting your bag in there and only taking with you the essentials you will probably need for the next couple of hours......camera, purse, autograph book, pen, suncream (maybe just the one bottle) drink, tissues (one or two stuffed in your pocket), map, poncho, sun hat and lipbalm, you see where my problem is now!!! Don't bother with the locker, just take the bag!:P1x1e_Dust:

I ALWAYS take a bag, sometimes a rucksack, sometimes a smaller over the shoulder bag, but I don't like have stuff in pockets.

Please pack the suncream... you WILL need to re-apply throughout the day!

I always take a small across the body bag, just to put my camera & purse in. Never really a problem - I couldn't be doing with a big bag, but the ones I usually buy are so small it's never an issue.

Sun cream fits in the bag pocket of the money wallet so no prob there.

I think I will use the money wallet for US and a small bum bag for Disney.

Being the holiday "packhorse" I always take a small rucsac.

Trouble is, "stuff" expands to fit into the thing with comments like "Oh, room for this?" and so it fills up.

Camera's, camcorder, lotion, water, etc etc

One day, just one day we'll go with just park passes.

To be honest, I'd rather die than use a bumbag! :nonono:

I will be trying just a 'bum bag' this year.......

I'd go for it!! I have a HUGE hand luggage bag and it's brilliant - 10kg is quite alot really so even if it's quite empty going out, it's ideal for the return leg when you've bought stuff :D Most of the time I manage to find stuff to fill it with anyway going out...I try and try and try, but what can I say...I just can't travel light!!!

In this entire thread, no-one has mentioned carrying a driving license. It is legally required to carry your license when you're driving or do you all use buses?? I mention this because it is the only reason I carry a bum-bag so that the license doesn't get tatty. I would happily shove everything else in my pockets & my DH's pockets but can't bear to fold up my license. Unfortunately, the plastic card with the license is useless without the paper part. What do otheres do??

Apart from picking up the rental car, my wife (I don't drive) just carries the small ID card; it has never been a problem and we have driven thousands of miles in America. It works as well as American driving licenses for ID purposes - not that we ever drink or look under 21. As every purse and wallet Mandy owns seems to have been bought in the US they all have a window for ID.

The wallet goes into my bag.

If the police stop you do you not have to produce the license?? I'm sure I read that it was a legal requirement nothing to do with ID.

American police are used to seeing American credit card sized driving licenses - I doubt very much the average Orlando constable knows we use such a cumbersome system.

You could just leave it in the car, I don't think you'll need to show your endorsements on test track
