I don't have internet access at home at the mo and we have been looking at the pay as you go one's mainly because we don't have a phone line yet.

we have toyed with the idea of getting sky plus in also, and have been looking at the deal with the skytalk and broadband included.

So what I am trying to say have many of you had any experience with sky broad band, can you give me the good the bad and the ugly. Or does anyone have any recommendations.

Dont touch Talk Talk as they are crap. We have got Sky Talk and Broadband and found it very good, had no problems at all.

I am just getting BT broadband and call package, they have some good deals at the moment, I will let you know how things go.....

Yeah my FIL is with Talk Talk, he isn't very technically minded and some on the things they had him do to get his working was beyond rediculous. He ended up with a new router and his broadband still goes down every night at about ten past seven!!

Sky plus will require a phone line I believe, although you may still be able to pay a one off fee to go without.

Can't help with sky talk but as you hinted, the best deal is to bundle a phone and BB deal together.

Consider some of the deal from the mobile companies, very competitive if you have a contract.

Also as a wild-card have you thought about the usb BB dongles from the mobile companies.

They are about £15 a month, BB on the go as well.

My daughter has a Dongle as she dosen't have a land Line, she's happy with it but if you want to download a lot they are not much good but just for normal online it's fine.

Sky have been fine for me. As for the dongles, bear in mind that if you are not in an area with 3G coverage, you only get standard GSM which is slower than the old modems we all used to use nearly 10 years ago.

Were with talktalk and no problems ok at the start we did but haven't since ok I suppose it helps that DH does work in I.T :d:. I would also be wary of having phone line sky and broadband as one did it with NTL never again, as when one went down all the others would go down which was great fun not!

we have the sky package & it's fine, you can even get your line rental with them now for £10PM which we now do as its a little bit cheaper than BT.

Thanks have just noticed this, I have just seen the basic package for sky, worked out with line rental, one mix of tv and line rental and free eveining and weekend calls, would need anything else we have our mobile still was £26 per month, this seems like an ok deal to me, will just have to get my BF to have the BT line istalled first before we swap it over to sky

you should get up to 384kbs then, which is okay for most browsing etc... I would recommend getting a fixed line however.

Just make sure you get proof that you've paid from BT, when we moved into our house in November, the previous owner didn't have a BT line put in, so we got BT to connect us then Sky said they'd refund it, all we had to do was send in the bill with a claim form and they'd credit our account, only problem was BT never sent us a bill, and after three months of us trying to get one off them they still hadn't done it, and the refund offer was no longer valid. :mad2: That is why I will no longer touch BT with a barge pole.

So that's Carphone Warehouse and BT on our list now.

Anyway back to Sky, we've got the whole Sky+, talk, broadband and line rentl with them for £36 a month, and we've never had a problem. I'd definitely recommend them. :thumbs-up

Thanks that sounds good, last time I spoke to BT they said the line was in just not active so there shouldn't be a line instilation charge, god nows it that has changed or not. £36 for the lot doesn't sound to bad to me.

I also have the sky package and pay £48 a month, though thats for the higher tv package plus sports channels, and the broadband max and got a special offer on sky talk which was free for the first 6 months instead of the £5 a month. I have no complaints with them what so ever, esp in regards to the broadband haven't had a single problem since the day i ordered unlike AOL who was my provider before and my connection was forever being lost.

Didn't relise you could now have sky to provide the phone line aswell might have to look into that rather than continuing to give the nightmare that call themselves BT anymore of my money

we also get calls to the usa included in the £5 per month for sky talk!! other countries too but not sure which ones
