Has anybody heard when the new coaster is opening at Seaworld? It's called Manta and is a face down coaster?

Thanks,

Isn't it supposed to be a bit like Air at Alton Towers but bigger, better, faster?! :D

If so, it'll be amazing!!

I love Kraken and especially Journey to Atlantis so I think it's great that Seaworld is getting another coaster!

I think it's due to open sometime in 2009. Another reason to plan another visit:D

They are just saying opening Summer 2009, so that could mean annytime really. I would expect the track to be more or less finished by the end of this year, but from what it sounds like there is going to be a hell of a lot of scenery and themeing which could take time to create, especially the animal habitats included in the ride.

SeaWorld Orlando Announces New Mega-Attraction Coming In 2009
-- Manta, Ride The Flying Ray --

The Manta flying coaster will create a new level of immersion into the animal world -- in a way only SeaWorld can do -- enveloping riders in a sensation of oneness with the ocean’s most powerful and graceful creature as they soar, dive and plummet through the air.. and at times within inches of the sea.

Inspired by the underwater flight of these powerful creatures, guests will fly face-down, in a horizontal position, underneath the belly of a coaster train shaped as a giant manta. With a wing span of 12 feet, the giant manta will soar over sea and sky in the most graceful flying coaster ever created.

Gliding, swooping and diving up to nearly 60 mph, through four inversions on 3,359 feet of track, riders will feel as if they are a ray, taking flight effortlessly from sky to sea -- so close at times that the Manta’s wings skim the waves.

Just had this in an email from Seaworld today

Immerse yourself in the mysterious, underwater world of the ray – then hang on for a ride on the biggest ray of all! On Manta, SeaWorld’s new flying roller coaster, you’ll experience what it’s like to glide and soar just like a massive manta ray.

Imagine flying through the air, face down and above the waves...there’s never been a flying roller coaster like Manta. Opening summer 2009 – only at SeaWorld Orlando.

Saw the building work for this one during a trip in the Skytower at Seaworld. Lots going on but don't seem to be very far along with the project. Still basically just a hole inthe ground!!!
