It's a chain of USA theme parks, nver been to one but if they're planning on competing with Disney and Universal then they must have something special to offer.......

OMG that would be good. I have been to the L.A six flags and it was brilliant. That park has more rollercoasters than any other theme park in the world and I was sick of riding at the end of the day. The good thing with six flags parks is that they do really unusual styles of rollercoasters and they will be looking to impress even more if they build in Orlando

On those "worlds most scary..." programmes Six Flags always have numerous entries for the scariest rollercoasters. I can't wait to see what might be in store for Orlando. They'll have to pull out all the stops to compete.

It would be fantastic but if you Google Six Flags Orlando you will find rumours stretching way way back and nothing has ever happened. Would be a huge boost to Orlando though and with property prices and lots of willing sellers maybe it is a good time for them.

This rumour has been banded about since the early 90's. Would be nice if it turned out to be true but there certainly has been no permission granted for it. If it had it would have been splashed all over the Florida media.

If only this could be true - Six Flags Coasters, but they'd have to match Universal theming at the least.
I've only been to Six Flags Magic Mountain, but it was really good: X is the only coaster to ever scare my wife. Better still - 6F have the Warner franchise, so we might get a DC Heroes theme in Orlando.

I have heard that the six flags group may purchase Seaworld and busch as the company who are buying out the annhouser busch (spelling) need to get some cash back for the debt there getting them self in,,
I will just copy the quote
Anheuser Busch parks face uncertain future
Jul 15, 2008
With Anheuser Busch being bought out by Belgian beermaker InBev, industry insiders are generating speculation as to the fate of the company's Busch Entertainment Corp (BEC.)
Anheuser's BEC oversees the ten theme parks, including Orlando's Busch Gardens and Sea World. InBev spokeswoman Marianne Amssoms stated that while no decision has been made regarding the theme parks, they "are very mindful of their important role in those communities and will seek to help preserve that role."
With InBev paying $52 billion to acquire Anheuser Busch, it is believed that they will sell the parks division and apply it to the debt they incurred with this purchase.
The President of International Theme Park Services Inc., Dennis Spiegel, believes that the sale of the BEC theme parks will be in the $3.5 billion to $4 billion range. He further commented on his belief that the sale is inevitable as Anheuser Busch would have needed the revenue to oppose the InBev purchase.
Spiegel stated "These properties will not be put at a fire-sale level by InBev, nor would they have if they had been sold by Anheuser-Busch. If you would have told me a year ago that SeaWorld would have been spun off, I would have said 'What have you been smoking?'"
When asked who would be the most likely buyer, Spiegel said "Certainly Cedar Fair and Six Flags have their own issues, and it doesn't look like it's something that Disney would do -- they typically don't buy other brands -- and Universal is not in the market to be expanding. I think whoever gets them will hang onto them." He further speculated that an international buyer will be the most likely candidate.
While Anheuser's BEC division has been profitable in recent years with $162.9 million in profits in 2007, the parks have seen a downturn, posting $3.8 million in losses in the first quarter of 2008. It is believed that this is a result of the current economy and escalating fuel costs.
In addition to Anheuser-Busch's 10 theme parks in the United States, it has four more parks slated to be opened in Dubai in 2012.

We love 6 Flags. The LA park is amazing.
This would be fantastic.
I hope it's true!

Wow that would be great if it ever gets built
Strange you should mention InBev, I was talking to a guy that works for them on Thursday. When I mentioned the Busch Parks / Sea World his first comment was "they're gone". When I asked what he meant he said that InBev wouldn't be interested in keeping the theme parks on as they're not part of their core business; they'd sell them on at the first opportunity.
Just have to wait and see.

Been to six flags in New England. It was a joint theme park and water park, great idea. The Superman ride was fantastic, and really scary.
Be brilliant if the rumours are true, just what we need, right on our doorstep.

This would be great :spin: ; but I read six flags are at the moment are cutting back on spending/invetments in the current economical climate.
Like others have said this rumours has been going around for nearly 20 years.
I would also imagine from their point, Orlando would have too much competition with Disney, Universal, Sea world etc.
But I have my fingers crossed

I just can't see this happening to be honest, well not for the foreseeable future anyway. Six Flags are a very different type of park to the current Florida parks, they are historically big on thrills and low on customer service and satisfaction.
To be able to compete in the Orlando market they would have to build a park like they have never done before, the themeing found in most Six Flags park is nowhere near the standard of both WDW & Universal and they are famous for they're "car park coasters", which literally sit on parts on the car park, with no themeing and marked parking bays still in place. The staff and operation of the parks is also a big issue, the amount of times I've read reviews of many Six Flags parks, that employ very young people who do not care about providing a good service and are a lot of the time found on their mobiles when they should be operating a ride. On the operational side, it's also very common to hear of long queues due to the parks operating their coasters with one train, when they are capable of running two or three at once, thus causing long delays to riders. This can also be linked with the staff attitude, as if they have more than one train they would have to do more work.
Looking at Six Flags as a business, they are not in a good state whatsoever. Like apollo163 said, they are currently around $2billion in debt and have been selling off their smaller parks in the past few fears in an effort to reduce it. Also they are not really known for building new parks from scratch, they tend to buy existing parks and fill it with clones of their already successful rides from their over parks, for example their famous Batman : The Ride has eight version across North America, all identical apart from two which are mirror images.
If Six Flags were to break into the Florida market, I would say the purchase of Sea World & Busch Gardens would be the most likely thing to happen, as they have in the past bought a Sea World park in Ohio. Even this looks inprobable though as again as apollo163 said it now looks like the Busch family will be buying the Busch Parks with the proceed of the sale to Inbev.

I know, but that's what makes the idea so appealing - Disney (or at least Universal) theming wrapped around proper rides.
There'd be no more 'is Tower of Terror the scariest ride in the world' questions, as we could look to the high-speed insanity that 6F serve up as fun. Can you imagine X, but themed for Peter Pan?
