Hope this is not a silly question  but can you get cheddar cheese in the states?

Sorry, but I don't know if you can get it in the US:(

But thourght you might like to buy some from the real Cheddar Cheese factory located in Cheddar George, I can highly recommend their Mature Truckle. Yum Yum:thumbs-up :pgig::pgig:

Hi, they do what they call 'sharp cheddar', which is the nearest thing to our mature cheddar. It's yellow, like double gloucester. We sometimes do a meal at the villa and grate it on jacket potatoes. :tounge:

I buy Swiss Cheese and that's the nearest I've found to a mild cheddar.

You can but quite a range of imported cheeses in Publix including Irish cheeses but you obviously have to pay more for them. The Canadian cheddar is quite nice, but I like very very strong cheddar and I can't really find one I like out there.

Try the cave mature truckle, that or the vintage mature are the two strongest IMHO. We visit thecaves often just to stock up on cheese.

Mmm some nice looking cheeses there!!

Thanks for this, when I lived in Bristol I had more access to stronger cheddar, farm shops etc.

I love cheddar that when you bite it, it bites you back!! ;)

Me too!!! I didn't mind the sharp cheddar from Publix. The imported cheeses (in the pre-packed section) are quite expensive.

We will often buy a cooked chicken, some french bread, salad and cheese for a relaxing meal by the pool. :thumbs-up Especially when we get a bit fed up with restaurant meals.

I like v-e-r-y strong cheddar and I've never been able to find it in the USA. I like the Canadian Cheddar here, usually something between a 5and 6 strength. Even the Mature ones are not as strong IMO.
