Hello! There are 15 of us all going on our first trip to florida in 3 weeks and are trying to plan a very rough itinary. In my family there is my husband and 3 children aged 7yrs 3 yrs and 7 months and myself. The rest of our group are spending 2 days in the Everglades (we have a villa to share and a hire car each family) but we dont know if we should go with them or enjoy 2 days by ourselves? What is there to do there especially for the kids?

Also another day allthe men are doing a racing experience thing at daytona - is it worth going with them? Is there a beach and stuff to do?

Thanks Kelly x

I have never been to the Everglades so can't comment on if there is anything for kids there. We have been to Daytona when my two dds were younger and they loved the beach, if you don't want the extra travelling with the kids you could just stay and go a a disney park or water park and have a nice kiddie ride day with them

stay put and enjoy a couple of days on your own. it's a long drive to the everglades and a baby might get very hot and bothered at daytona. edited to say i didn't read it right and see that you are going in three weeks, you definiteley don't want to be in the everglades then, it is mosquito heaven. the best time for the everglades is late october - early march

Dont think Id be taking youngsters down to the Everglades in August, especially a 7 month old. The heat is intense enough when there is plenty of shade about, so reckon out in the open might be a tad too much.

When the guys go for the Richard Petty thing at Daytona, why not go look around some of the shopping malls around the area. The beach will be a good bet for the kids, but again watch out for the heat in August. The beach also gets rather busy at weekends.
Have a look here for things to do in Daytona www.daytonabeach.com
