This is probably a very stupid question, but here goes.

I've bought a new computer and I can't find 'my computer'.

On my old computer it was displayed as an icon on desk top but not here.

Is it in an obvious place?

I know I'm going to feel really silly about this but have looked everywhere and pushed most buttons but can't find it anywhere.

Press start on the bottom left hand side and it 'should' be listed on the right hand side of start menu.

Thanks I think I've found it but it all looks so different.

I'm sure I'll get used to the set up and style. I had my old computer for 3 years so knew where everything was. I think this will take some getting used to.

Thanks again. :)

It does take some getting used to, especially when I keep using my older computer at work. When I come home I forget where it is on this one

right click on 'my computer' and send it to the desktop for future use.

You've probably got Vista on a new computer, so look for "Computer" rather than "MY Computer".

Thanks Andre, yes it is Vista and they have dropped the 'my'. The layout is very different to my old lap top, I'm sure I'll get used to it in time.

Thanks natashashorter

I might do that but I don't want to spoil the new look of the screensaver for now!!

Hi

Just come across this thread and thought I would post this.

Yes you can create a shortcut to 'Computer' on the desktop however you do not get the right click options that you would by having the correct icon on the desktop.

To display the computer icon and others on the desktop, right click on any blank area of the desktop and choose 'Personalize' at the bottom of the list. This will open up a window. At the top of the left hand side you will see under Tasks 'Change desktop icons', by selcting this you now get the options to display the Computer icon along with other including users files, network, recycle bin and control panel.

Hope this helps.
