Can anyone recommend the Pirates Dinner, we did Medieval Nights but was not really impressed, is it the same sort of thing?

We did Pirates and Medieval Nights in 2006 and yes it is similar but marginally better. Personally I wouldn't do it and would spend the money on something like Disney's Spitit of Aloha or Mickeys Backyard BBQ which are far better. This is just our opinion though and I'm sure there will be people who disagree. But as you didn't rate Medieval Nights you probably won't enjoy this either.

We done it 4 years ago,, not very good really,, they pratically begged for tips,, basicaly they ask for $10 for adults and $5 for kids each,, work that out,, most familys were fuming, not sure if it has changed since then,,
We also done arabian nights that year, it was better.

We went to Pirates 3 years ago and did not enjoy it. It was too dark to see what we were eating, they dragged our DS's out to join in the show while they were still eating their meal.

WE did the Pirates show a couple of years ago - the kids enjoyed the acrobatics and participation bit - but the food wasn't up to much at all.
wouldn't bother going again - personally:wavey:

Did it xmas just gone and it was rubbish and the food made me sick, kids hated it and we wanted to leave but couldn't get out, as for the tips don't get DH started he left nothing which they weren't to pleased about, spend your money on a disney character meal much better!

A friend of mine went to Sleuths and really enjoyed it.

Just found this in the dictionary

ming·ing –adjective
1. Pirates is a very bad dinner show in Orlando; unpleasant; bad food: .

Ive been and will not be going back EVER. Sleuths is the best by a million miles but not so good for under 13s as they won't get the humour

Pirates is a big http://www.mrbrit.co.uk/myimages/thumbsdown.gif

We did it in 2006 and it was rubbish. Poor food, even worse service and I'm still trying to figure what was going on on the stage.

Our allocated pirate was a fat bloke that couldnt be bothered to try so that made it even worse. Other than Sleuths, I thought that Medieval times was quite decent, the food was really good

This is quite odd...we have not long returned from Mallorca where we went to see the pirates show there....it was fantastic...yeah the food wasnt up to scratch but it was in keeping with the Pirates theme ie chicken legs, sausages, chips beans etc...but we didnt really go for the food...
the show was fabulous...but we have been told that the Mallorca show is better than the Orlando one...and judging on this thread I think we will steer well clear of it now...especially since there are plenty of others to choose from!!

We've done both shows. We did the Majorca one first which was brilliant, then we went to the Orlando one........it was rubbish!!!

The server was knocking off for the night before our meal had finished & he even came up and asked if he could have his tip as he was going home!!!

We've done Pirates in Majorca. It is in a different class to the one in Orlando.

Another vote against Pirates here. We've done the Buffalo Bill show in dlp 3 times and loved it, but Pirates was an unmitigated disaster, so much so that dh has refused to go to any other dinner shows now, even the ones that get good reviews here on the dibb.

Mind you if medieval times is worse than Pirates perhaps he's got a point, but I would like to see Arabian Nights.

Medieval Times is nowhere near as bad as Pirates.

We go to medieval every year, despite knowing the trick to who is going to win. Arabian Nights is good and we'll probably go there this year now we have discovered Dixie's Stampede is no more :(

That might be the best decision you make for your trip, like others we did in it 2006 mainly because our youngest DS 3 1/2 and pirate mad (Pirates of the Carribean etc say no more) he enjoyed it but as for us a big never again:confused2:confused2

What makes it so different then??

Now ive been to the Mallorca one I dont think we would have bothered with the Orlando one anyway...but Im finsing it hard to understand how differant it can be especially as there was a spell where the Mallorca cast went over there to perform!!

do you think perhaps it just doesnt travel well??

We love the Buffalo Bills one in DLP but the boys weren't mad keen on Arabian Nights so wouldn't bother with that on again was hoping to try Pirates or Medieval Times next time not so sure now

We had pre-booked tickets for the Pirates show and went on my birthday on 20 June. We had been seriously considering not going after reading some of the comments on here. The show was entertaining for kids - it was only a quarter full and we were only given two drinks instead of the "unlimited" drinks advertised when we bought the tickets - but we actually thought the food was very good! It was all hot and nicely served and very tasty. Even DD who is a fussy eater enjoyed every bit! Maybe we were just there on a night in a million, but it was a very good night's entertainment for a very reasonable price! With regards to tipping, our waiter discreetly left a card suggesting $8 per head tip, but seemed more than happy with the $10 we gave him in total and was very polite throughout!

People please remember all these are our thoughts and NOT recommendations, as I said our 4 year old really enjoyed the show, we thought is just passable but would not go again, for what is costs and what you get and it is something different to do.......

I would not recommend it though;):confused2;)
