Would anyone know if i bought some GHD Mark 4 straigntners over in Florida would they work back home.My straightners hardly warmed up last year so i was wondering would it be easier to buy some over there but i would like them to work back at home as well.
Or maybe i should just not bother for 2 weeks and wear my hair up.

We couldn't find GHDs in the states end of last year, but...

My wife has American straighteners for trips to the US and they still don't get hot enough - 110V is only a quarter of the power!

It is possible that American versions of straighteners could work here if they are designed for travel, but they would be running at four times their normal power level, so do read the instructions first.

Just checked and GHDs are on sale in US, but they seem to cost the same as here. They certainly claim dual voltage, but I would still be surprised if they get as hot in US

The mark IV ghds work just as well as they do in the UK according to my wife. They heat up as normal.

The mk 4 version are dual voltage... took mine to the USA in Feb and they got as hot as what they do in the UK.

I did look at buying GHD4's in the states and found that they were the same price in the USA as they were here. I decided against buying in the states because they would be supplied with a USA plug and as I'd be using them more in the UK I couldn't be bothered with an adapter all the time.

I bought them in the UK when I came back and have used them loads in the US and they heat up just as effectively.

Hi I have GHD's 4 and they are duel voltage and work just as good in the US as in England. I would buy them here and then you can at least take them back if they develop a fault and they will also have a UK plug on. These are great straightners, highly recommended. :mickeywal

I've just ordered a pair from amazon.co.uk, pretty much the same price as amazon.com. I hope everybody is right about them working in US as my wife has real problems in he heat and humidity of Florida; though our next trip will be Las Vegas and Utah, so humidity won't be such a problem.

Is it just the newer model that works there then?

I really need to know that too, because my GHDs are v v v old.

:omg: feeling worried that I wont be able to straighten my hair on our holiday of a lifetime:omg:

I have used the GHD4's in the usa quite a few times, they are the only GHD's that are classed as dual voltage.

My SIL took her GHD3's last year and they did heat up, but not as hot as normal, took ages, and then cut out.
