Hi everybody,:wavey:
I know this has been asked 1000's of times but how do I ask for DW's eggs doing in Americanese, and mine for that matter:o:.
I like mine runny but cooked on both sides, DW likes them cooked on both sides but solid,
Thanks in advance, Cheers, :beer2:

Yours will be over easy and I think your DW's will be over hard.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong - over easy for me everytime.

DH says did you know that if you put each end of the shelled egg on your tongue, one side is cooler than the other. This shows how fresh they are because of the air pocket inside. Apparently if they are both the same its best not to eat it.
I say ....only my DH would know that, he got it off a farmer. I also say as a women I know where the eggs comes from and no I have not tried it lol.
Oh yes sorry I like my poached, not hacky runny but not hard boiled.

Yep over easy and over hard. :)
Definitely not sunny side up - raw white! YUK!!!
First time in Dennys when I was asked how I liked my eggs, I asked what did she mean, fried, boiled, scrambled etc.
Never mind, glad you asked this question as I could not remember how I had mine until I read this thread.
Above is correct - over easy and over hard.
On my first visit to USA I said when asked how I like my eggs -'as they come' ...the response 'Raw then''.

This might help:
Over hard', also called 'hard' — cooked on both sides until the yolk has solidified.
'Over medium' — cooked on both sides until the yolk is fairly thick but still a liquid.
'Over easy', also called 'runny' — cooked on both sides but yolk is still liquid while the egg white is thoroughly cooked. This is occasionally called 'sunny side down.' These are also commonly referred to as 'dippy eggs' or 'dip eggs' by Marylanders and by Pennsylvania Dutch persons living in southern Pennsylvania, mainly due to the practice of dipping toast into the yolk while eating. Also called 'treasure eggs' in southwestern Pennsylvania.
'Sunny side up' — cooked only on one side; yolk is liquid (the oil or fat may be used to baste the sunny side, however.) The egg white is often still rather runny as well. This is often known simply as 'eggs up'. Covering the frying pan with a lid throughout cooking allows for a less "runny" egg.
Another style known simply as 'Fried' - eggs are fried on both sides with the yolks broken until set or hard. These are common in fried egg sandwiches and in Asian cuisine.
****If you are in doubt just describe how you like to eat them. Terms can vary so this will be the sure way to get them how you like.
You can take a look at this blog (http://www.puissance.ca/blog/2007/08/05/ordering-eggs-at-a-restaurant/) I found doing a Google search for descriptions with pictures if that helps. I don't know anything about the website but thought the visual might help.

I like my egg yolk runny but with no slimy white bits. Sometimes when I've asked for over easy there's been slimy bits. Over medium gets them perfect every time.

I call runny eggs 'snotty' too, and so do most of my work mates :d:, we specifically ask for non 'snotty' eggs from the canteen at work! :nonono:

Snotty eggs ... nice!!
I found the eggs we bought in Walmart had very thin shells, any reason for this??

I'm an 'over medium' girl, I like a bit of runny yolk but can't bear snotty eggs!

Love snotty eggs with soldiers (just the big kid in me :pgig:) however, I don't like the white and it's a real performance watching me
