My friend and her family are going to Orlando, they are thinking of going to Kennedy Space Centre, is there any trips from Orlando, that include the Space centre and the Imax film of space?

I couldn't tell you of any specific trips as we've always had a car. However, it is worth the effort to get there and see everything they have on display, I'm sure they'll love it!

Sorry to jump on the thread but I am confused with the Kennedy tickets on offer. There seems to be quite a range and we want to go but don't know what ticket to choose. Any advice please? We're not space fanatics or anything, just interested and taking our 11 year old grandson.

The Dine with an Astronaut sounds really good but if you don't
fancy that I would just get the basic Admission Badge :thumbs-up

Hi Guys

There is a lot to see and do at Kennedy and even if you just skim the surface there is too much to do in one day. Although frankly the whole place can be a bit too much "science" for the lay person such as me :)

I would not recommend any of the tours that offer Kennedy AND something like an airboat ride. I did this one year with a friend who was desperate to see Kennedy and by the time we had gone out on the airboat and been returned to Kennedy we had hardly has no time at all at the Centre itself.

The Imax film is quite good, but too be honest a bit dry and not that entertaining, with kids the time would be better spent letting them explore the rocket garden.

Oh yeah and one final point the food areas and gift shops are the most expensive in Florida!!!!!

Hope this helps.

As long as you buy the ticket that gives you the bus tour (at the center not from Orlando) that would be enough. This allows you access to everything at the center (IMAX films, Shuttle Launch Experience and Bus Tour). This is a full day but one that gives you just enough without it being too much for someone who isn't a space junkie.

The IMAX films are quite good. Currently they are showing:

“Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D” – Presented and narrated by Tom Hanks, Magnificent Desolation features rarely seen NASA footage with live-action renditions of the lunar landscape to propel audiences nearly a quarter-million miles above the Earth's surface.

“Space Station 3D” – Blast-off into space with the astronauts and cosmonauts from Florida's Kennedy Space Center and Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome to rendezvous with their new home in orbit 220 miles above Earth. Narrated by Tom Cruise "SPACE STATION 3D" is a story of challenges, setbacks and triumphs and ultimately, the shared international victory of men and women whose dreams exceed the limits of life on this Earth.

**I will agree that the restaurants/gift shops are expensive but this is where they make the bulk of their money. I recommend eating breakfast offsite before you arrive and have small lunch onsite with a dinner back in town when you return. You can always pack a couple of snacks in your backpack to hold you over.

I work in construction and am currently working on the Orbit Cafeteria remodel. They are trying to improve/revamp a few things out there.
