Hi,

While we are here we would like to know if anyone has been to St Augustine and what it is like there, what hotels are good to stay in for a couple of days.

We went last year for three days and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in the Hilton, bit pricey, but very nice and comfortable.

We've been for Easter weekend and stayed in the Casa Monica which was lovely and we got a really good rate. Lots to do and see so definitely a stopover. We stayed for 2 nights and didn't see everything we wanted to. Have a look at www.oldcity.com for information. It's a really lovely place and actually has some history - t is very walkable and makes for a great change from the fast pace of theme parks for a couple of days. If you do a search on here you will find other threads with lots of info .

We also went last year for 1 week. We decided to go our first week, that way we still had the parks to look forward to. If felt strange landing at Orlando only to drive away from the fun but I m glad we did it. We stayed at the World Golf Village which is a short drive from St Augustine although there were plently of hotels in St Augustine. I think the one on the front road overlooking the sea was the Hilton but there is also the older one Casa Monica Hotel.

In St Augustine we did the normal tourist things - went on the small train tour of the town (twice), Ripleys Believe It or Not, Beach, Boat Trip round the bay, Spanish Day (which was on when we were there in October). I think Flagler College would be interesting and you can also take horse and cart rides along the front.

It was strange not hearing many british voices in St Augustine which was totally different from Orlando on our second week.

There is also a Marineland just south of Orlando.

We would love to go back again in the future.

Hope you have a good holiday.

We went for a day last year, we were going to stay overnight originally at the St George Inn but decided just to make a day of it. St George Inn is in the main part of St Augustine located over the shops (near the watermill, oldest school house). The rooms have balconies with rocking chairs and it looks really quaint. They have suites as well as rooms, last year the suite which is over 2 floors was $199 per night, rooms were from $129.

We have been a couple of times. Look out for B&Bs, there are some beautiful ones (try a Google search)

We went last October and stayed at the St George. Very pricey but 1st class. We stayed for 3 nights and as one poster said, no british accents. I will be going again because £ days is not enough time to see and do everything St Aug has to offer. Try the Ghost Walk tour of St Augustine!

This is something we are planning in December, 3 adults 2 children - are the prices for accomodation very expensive?
