There is a space launch on the 8th October this year and I have priced it up as $312. Has anyone any views on the launch, anyone been to a launch before, anyone planning to go. We were going to do a normal day trip there but am now considering doing this, I am a bit worried as to how much traffic will be on the road then though.

Hi There,
I went many years ago when I was small, however I will always remember this day.
My dad wanted to go so we caught a coach and went out to watch it for the day. The only thing I would say is that as you are sat out for the whole day in the sun, stay covered up and also drink plenty.
Other than that it’s a great day! And one off experience!

We went in June 98 to see a Shuttle Launch, we paid about $30 each to see it I think (not 100% sure). We were on the causeway in KSC had an excellent view.
As for traffic. Well think of the M25 on a bad day and double it or maybe triple it. It took us over 6 hours to get home. that was the only downer on an excellent day out.
Would I do it again. YES. even with all the traffic.

We went to the Atlantis launch in 2000, take off was something
like 8.00am and I remember leaving the hotel early hours to get
there in time because of traffic. We viewed it from KSC and
although its a day I will never forget and something I'm proud to
say I've seen I probably wouldn't do it again.
Definately worth doing the once though :thumbs-up

We saw a night time launch of Endeavour back in 2000 and it was incredible - highlight of the holiday.
We booked it as an excursion through Gatortours even though we had a hire car. And I'm glad we did...the traffic was horrendous coming off KSC - it took hours just to leave there...we didnt' get dropped off back at the hotel until about 2-3am in the morning...the launch had been at 22:05 that night!!!

we have done a launch paid and unpaid both are as good as eachother, but have to say where we went 2 years ago by the roadside with all the other locals, we found that traffic wasnt a problem as was in KSC itself, but the atmosphere in ksc is 10 times better
You must do it, it is simply WOW WOW WOW, we watched the launch last year in August from the NASA causeway. We booked with Grayline and they were fantastic, its a very, very long day and the traffic coming home was bad BUT my god is it worth it, i really can not put into words how amazing it was. My ds who was 7yrs at the time still talks about it all the time ( he is a space nut though) Go for it you will not regret it !
hi just a word of warning. we paid to watch a launch some years ago at Astronauts hall of fame. but 20mins before launch there was a terrifc fork of lightening about 5 miles away and they cancelled it! 20mins to go we'd been there all day in excitement. it was rescheduled for the next day when we'd booked a coach trip to everglades and couldn't go
bummer!
don't think we ever got over it!
