yay....just got back from USF and we managed to ride The Mummy!:):):)

As we entered the park Mark asked at Guest Services and they said it would open around 12 for a couple of hours. Great excitement all round!

At 12 we legged it to where King Kong used to be and there are great signs up for The Mummy...you cant miss it!

Theres a warning outside that 'people pf certain body dimensions' may not be able to ride so Mark sat in the test vehicle but the restarint seemed ok...phew!

The inner queuing area is wonderfully themed like the inside of a tomb of course, with pillars and heiroglyphics and statues etc There are also a couple of little tricks to keep you amused along the way which I wont spoil for you!;)

Then its into the cars. There is information that not all the ride's details are entirely finished yet, but it was still amazing:jump:

The cars fit 4 across and I think 4 rows down. Mark was fine getting into the seat but did have trouble bringing down the bar far enough to satisfy the staff :( I hope they're planning to arrange some larger seats for people!

Then we were off!

Its dark, its spooky and its amazing! It reminded us a bit of the Spiderman ride (without the glasses) There are all manner of things to make you jump a bit but its not terrifying for kids......and it doesnt go upside down much to Becky's pleasure:)

the worst bit was the scarab beetles all running at you at one point (not real but horrible)..I closed my eyes then...........then you're rushing backward, then foreward into a coaster type part of the ride:).....the best bit was when you seem to fall into a pit of fog...fantastic!:jump: :jump: :jump:

This could be my new favourite....do it when you can!

We screamed our way round and loved every minute...we'll be going back next week;)

any questions?

Excellent, didn't realise it was so close to completion. Great news that you managed to sneak on. We saw some of the props etc when we went in January, they had them on display in the foyer of the Horror Make Up Show.
I love the films, so hopefully the themeing will be perfect.

Can't wait to go on it now.

Does it really honestly not go upside down? :confused2

And is there a big drop when you fall in the pit of fog?

Are there any other big drops?

I'm not sure I would like this one, being a bit of a wimp! is a virtual ride or a real coaster type thing. I couldn't watch the film because of the bug content so probably not a good idea to try this one...I don't like the sound of that scarab beetle bit!

Its partly virtual and partly coaster!:) It really really honestly doesnt go upside down! the drop part isnt far too, believe me, becky doesnt do anything too leery and she loved it!:)

Cant be sure of height restrictions sorry, but will try and check it out if we go back:)

360 lb person should be ok I reckon, I suppose it depends where the weight is more if you see what I mean! Th elap bar was the problem but they managed to fit it in the end:) PM me if you like and I'll try to be more specific:)

Great to hear that you got to ride.

Do you know if they are opening for a few hours every day until the Grand Opening or is it just occasional days? I might have to tear up my current itenary if that's the case!!

Mark here, logged on as Mandy.

I just fitted into the ride, I am 5'11" 300lb (46" waist) there didn't seem to be any seats for the larger person like there is on Hulk etc.

It was awesome, the diet will start when I get home, it has to as I am playing lacrosse again next season.

It sounds very scary to me! I saw the first Mummy film and it freaked me out
You can't diet yet Mark anyway - I'm enjoying the foodie reports too much :jump:

It is a cross between Spiderman, Rock and Rollercoaster and Space Mountain. The first bit is a bit Spiderman like and then the rollercoaster (doesn't go upside down).

Is the rollercoaster bit more or less scary than Space Mountain? :confused2

hmmmmm, cetainly not as long as Space Mountain, I'd say not as bad/good;) as the SM coater part...............

Mandy - thanks for the info. I still can't decided whether I've got the bottle for it. Some clues about my fear factor:

1. I don't generally like roller coasters.
2. I love Spiderman
3. I can handle and enjoy drops like Jurassic Park and Splash Mountain.
4. I can handle (but don't like) the twists and turns of Thunder Mountain Railroad.

I know I'm asking you to be psychic(!) but do you think I'd be OK on Mummy? We'll be there in 4 weeks!

Thanks for any help.

Beckysmum.

lol thats a tough one ! My DD (also a Becky) sounds similar. She cant handle most coasters, especially upside down ones, but does love Spidey. She also likes Thunder Mountain..........so I reckon you'd be ok on Mummy, just my opinioin though.......I'll include a disclaimer just in case!!!!!!;)
