As a mad keen motorsport fan and competitor, i wondered if there are any motorsport events in or near Orlando, Such as short oval or some sort of rally or rallycross?

Alvin, motor racing in the US is as popular as football is here.
There are tracks all over the place.Take a look at this site www.chasinracin.com
Click on" track locator" and then" find tracks by map"
All the tracks will.show as coloured dots, colour depends on size and surface.
After a lot of searching I find this to be the best site there is.

We are stock car fans here in the UK and just couldnt visit Florida without a fix of oval racing.
There are dozens of tracks in Florida, the nearest one being Orlando Speedworld.
Track size varies from 1/4 to 1/2 mile and there is the choice of clay or asphalt.

There are also quite a few Drag Strips as well, again Orlando Speedworld also has a top rated strip there as well.

One thing we learned though about racing in the US is the yellows come out everytime there is the slightest spin or brush with the wall and on the clay tracks it can take a while to run a single race.

There is also another good track at New Smyrna which is 1/2 mile asphalt and is sister track to Orlando.

On the West side of Florida there is a good track at Tampa called East Bay Raceway. This is a dirt/clay track.
Saw the 360ci winged sprints here in 2002 and they were absolutely mindblowing.

One other thing to check is that some tracks will not allow you to take your own food or drink or even a video camera.
One track like that is Sunshine Raceway at Clearwater and the staff there are as miserable as sin.

Please note though..........not much chance of seeing the Merseyside Invaders banger team over there . lol

If you need any advice give me a PM

Happy searching

If you like drag racing, Don Garlits has a large museum of drag racers and classic cars just south of Ocala, about an hour north of Orlando. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits is considered the king of American drag racers. http://www.garlits.com
