My ds loves big coasters...now I dont mind coasters, with twist and loops but what I dont like is heights, you are talking to the girl who cried (at aged 34) on the pepsi max. I really (at the moment) want to do the big coasters at IOA....question are they really really high? I think what gets me is the ride up to the top, thats really not nice....so what do you think gang...will I be brave enough?
Angie...DD is not as high as Pepsi Max by a long way, and Hulk has a pneumatic launch so there is no 'build-up' - go for it!:D

Angie like Mike says you are shot out from the Hulk, you haven't got that horrendous climb (which is the main reason l don't do them). l think you would like that.
l can't do any off them the thought terrifies me. l screamed and kept my eyes shut all the way round on the kiddies Woody wood pecker ride lol

It depends how you feel too - i get motion sickness on rides and they make me feel really ill!
Hello Ang -where have you been? I dont know -I tend to make the judgement when I get there and stand up close to the coaster. Im still not a big fan but of course the kids love them all. I have done Kraken , RnR, and Duelling Dragons but cant do Hulk , no, no!! Try one Angie and then you'll know!

I find closing my eyes the worst thing I could do!! I keep an eye on the track we have just gone past if I feel ill. Other than that I now enjoy the views!! The first few of the holiday always make my tummy turn but after that I anm back in the swing of things and fine.
Claire :wink
Angie- I chickened out of Hulk as they did the safety checks but did Krakken. That was fantastic and soooooooooo smooth :D
I didn't cry when I did The Big One- but did use lots of colourful language:wink It's that slow climb up that did it for me.

I chose to go on The Hulk ride for my first ever loop de loop coaster(I have done other coasters at faigrounds)but it made me feel so ill I was unable to go on anything for about 2 hours.really spoilt the day for all of us.
So my advice is if you are not sure and perhaps do suffer motion sickness, don't go on it.I won't be doing Mission space althogh I would love to experience it.

My first loop de loop rollercoaster was Rock N Rollercoaster. Chose this because of the launch and that fact that was dark!!! Loved it and have rode it loads and have conquered Hulk and Duelling Dragons too.
Wasn't too keen on Duelling Dragons but that fact that my friend was verging on hysteria went we got to the front of the queue and discovered the CM's name was Angel didnt help (she thought Angel could be an omen).

I don't like the Pepsi Max either. The one and only time I was on it I shut my eyes on the initial climb and didn't open them again until it finished.
In Florida I have been on the Hulk which was fine because as everyone says you are shot out at don't see the climb up. DD is like the ride at Bush Gardens in the Egypian part (can't remember what its called) but they are OK because the safety harness comes down from the top and you are hanging so you don't see the open sky as much. The one I don't fancy is the wooden one at Bush.
Give the Hulk a try and think you'll be pleasantly surprised.:D

Try them all! You are talking to a recent convert. A born again coaster zealot.
Hulk is a good one if you are afraid of the climb. You are unaware of the height and it's all happening really quickly. It's big, swoopy and quite smooth.
DD are inverted coasters which for reasons I can't explain feel safer than the ones you sit in. Take one of the centre seats and make sure you are not in the one with the double belt, unless you are a larger person. I've been in it and the seat didn't grip me  as I'm so little. (I actually like that now, but then I was a bit freaked out!) As you climb, look at the person in front of you. These rattle your head a bit but are not as rough as the Flying Unicorn!!
Kraken is brilliant. Big swoopy and very smooth. Again sit in the centre or on the right. If you are on the left you feel very exposed when swinging into that first huge drop.:D .
Montu (the Egyptian one) is smooooth and inverted. You could eat your lunch on it. I'd recommend it as a first big coaster alongside Hulk.
Kumba is OK - not spectacular and rougher than Montu.
Gwazi are terrifying. I chickened out last holiday but I WILL do them this year! It's the lack of shoulder straps I think!

Both my teenage nephews were terrified of doing the big coasters at IoA last week (one is scared of heights and the other hates going upside down) but I forced them on Dueling Dragons and, after the initial climb, the older one (scared of heights) was fine but the other complained. I did get the to do the other dragon a week later though. Hulk was a doddle for the older one due to the fast launch but the other one refused to ride it. We all did Kraken though and loved it, though the older one kept his eyes shut on the way up.
As soon as you reach the top of the incline, the rest will pass really quickly and I know my nephew is really proud of himself for getting over his fear and doing them all - we even rode front row for Kraken and front row for Hulk twice.

You have to do the HULK it rocks, whatever you do dont bottle out, you only live once, SO DO IT - you will be fine, dizzy, but fine! LOL.
