We went in 2002, it was very pleasant and very quiet. My better half just reminded me that there was a doggy bakery.:o:

We went to Mt Dora in Nov 2002.
Very nice place if you like the art and craft type shops.
Also there is a railcar ride[its a refurbed 1920s trolley bus],fully narrated with the full history of the Mt Dora railway. This was quite interesting I thought.
I think it went to a place called Eustice and back and travelled in part along the banks of the lake.
Worth half a day visit at least.

We went last Christmas and thought it was lovely.

I can't remeber the exact route but If you go up the 27 you can start your trip off at the vineyard, I think someone on here said it was one of the better ones in Florida.

Then follow the roads to Mount Dora and spend some time looking around. When finished keep going around the lake (you'll need to get a map to navigate all of this) and eventually after a few picuture perfect towns you will come out on the 50. This will take you to clearmont where if you are in a shopping mood they have a super target, big kmart etc or you could pop into the cracker barrel restraunt for a bit to eat.

Finally if you haven't had enough yet you could pop into Lake Louisa state park on the way back down the 27 for a walk. Makes a pleasant day out with a few alternatives to choose from.

Have a good trip.

I think we travelled up the Orange Blossom trail.

Can't remember the exact route but it is signposted anyway.

JC,we will have to give that route of yours a try next time as the vineyard thing sounds good.
