Okay, let's imagine, just for a minute, that you are going to Florida for a holiday in May/June.
Imagine that you are going with your wife.
Imagine that she is having a "significant" birthday while you are out there (one with an "0" at the end).
Imagine that you will not be taking "dressing up" clothes.
Finally, imagine that your food of choice in Orlando is more likely to come from Golden Corrall than one of those posh places anyway.
So, after all that imagining (on the basis that it has probably made you hungry) where would you be eating on the evening of the birthday?
You See! I'm TRYING to be a good husband!
You should be fine for most of the restaurants out there except Victoria and Alberts and Emirils. I think there are some others that demand smart/ casual.
Opinions will vary on favourites though so I suppose it depends on the type of food you and your wife like:D

Hey again Margaret!
If you had done all the imagining above, where would you be heading?
Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge.. we ate at Boma, with the kids, and loved it, but liked the look of Jiko through the adjacent doorway. Very romantic.. and nowhere near as busy as Boma seemed. There, or perhaps off-site at cafe d'Antonios at Celebration ... we'd a lovely, romantic dinner there last year, sans enfants.

Spot on Mike.
Keep the suggestions coming, but no-one tell the wife!
Oh I dont know Keith -am trying to think of somewhere where your wife might be serenaded but cant!!:D
Mikes suggestions sound good.
Lots of people like Ohanos but my experiences are in the minority -not good. I love Akershus but I wouldnt rate it for romance. Im afraid I cant help you on that front as it is always only me and the kids

The most wonderful food and more adult atmosphere we've had was at Citrico's at The Grand Floridian. SOme people do dress up but not loads, we saw people in all sorts of clothes there.
It was a lovely evening:)
CITRICOS! YES! YES! YES! :jump: :jump:

Hi
I would like to go somewhere like fun & lively eg. Hard Rock Cafe...but I suppose it depends on your wife's likes and dislikes.
My wife was 40 last time we were out - so I treated her to a slap up meal at.......Johny Rockets!:D
Before anyone starts dissing me for being a bad hubby I would like to point out i had the kids whilst she went shooping for a couple of hours at the Mall at Millennia!:wink

I also back the Animal Kingdom Lodge, eat at Jikos, superb food but casual dress allowed and then sit outside round the campfire on the rocking chairs with a glass of wine (or two) discussing how wonderful life at..0 is then wander over to the night vision binocs and watch the animals in the savannah - not an experience I would forget in a hurry!

Speaking as the woman, I was taken to the beach at sunset with a takeaway pizza and a blanket.
I was very happy with that.
If you go to Hard Rock they get everyone to sing happy birthday to you. Occasionally a piece of cake with a candle is brought out too.
Johnny Rockets would be cool too, I love it there.

I want to be at WDW for my 40th, dont think it will happen however.
I dont like anywhere too upmarket (I get intimidated and nervous then cant eat) but liked the sound of Citricos. We did Ohana and loved it, went on to the beach afterwards to watch the fireworks, or what about somewhere around the boardwalk and an Illuminations cruise if you can get one.
We also had a great meal at Pebbles at the Crssroads, the fact we had a 25% off voucher helped too!
DH loves Bahama Breeze.

Okay, thanks everyone for the suggestions, but can I just make it VERY CLEAR that my wife is not 40. It is a lower age with an "0".
If she starts reading this stuff I'll be dead if I haven't clarified that.
Not, of course, that there is anything wrong with people who are 40.
You have to be so careful these days!
