tipping and service charge???

This is probably a dumb question but if service charge is added to you resturant bill are you still expected to leave a tip?
its drummed into you that you have to leave 15% tip, so on our last visit DH left a $15 tip for a $100 meal when we looked closer a service charge had all ready been added, but a space for tips was on CC recipt. so in affect we paid twice!
is this common practice?

No if they add service charge then that is the tip. In New York it is more common to have service added than in Orlando

They often add the service charge for parties of 6 or greater, we have been caught out with that one and paid the tip twice.
