Had a letter from Virgin today stating:

'The (renovation) work taking place to the exterior of the building will include cleaning and painting, and although scaffolding will be visable on either side of the tower, all work will be completed by hand, therefore no noise disruption is anticipated. The competion date for this part of the renovation will be the middle of July.
In addidion to this, the hotel will be closing off each floor at a time whilst they clean, paint & update the exterior soft furnishings. Again, with the hotels assurances, we anticipate little disruption to guests. These renovations are expected to be taking place from the middle of July to the end of August.

The hours of work will be from 9am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 10pm to 6pm. The hotel have assured us that they will do all possible to allocate Virgin Holidays clients away from the renovation works take place.'

Lets see shall we?

Marty - I hate it when they drop things like this on you. I hope that it does not affect you too much & that they keep to their word - good luck!

Don't intend spending too much time in the hotel - but the occasional afternoon nap may be in order.

Hope the pool is open, although may make use of the parks for this.

Marty just back from there and this renovation on the tower has started and has been ongoing for about 8 days now and this stage was scheduled too last 32 days...Work begins at 8.00am and finishes before 6.00pm ...

It wont affect the pool because the tower is a fair bit a away from the pool area...

Marty

We,ve just arrived back today as stated above the tower is well away from the pool. My advise would be to email the Hotel direct and ask for block A or B poolside it proberly the quitest part of the hotel. the tower rooms are larger and the views can be good but the lifts can be a bit of a prob at busy times.

Hi Marty,

We're going on 23rd June and got our letter this morning - not very pleased. We wanted a tower room cos they are supposed to be better but not so sure now...... I might phone Virgin and see about a change of hotel although we've already changed to this one from Quaility Inn!! Looking at your dates it might all be finished by the time you get there?

Marty,

Just to let you know - I phoned Virgin on Sat and they changed our hotel no problem without charging admin charges. We changed to the Marriott Village at LBV - it actually worked out a bit less money. I just didn't want to take the chance of there being a lot of disruption at the Holiday Inn

Cheers

Karen
