Hello, not posted on these boards for ages but have been a regular 'lurker'.

We have booked to stay 3 nights at the Adams Mark Hotel on Clearwater Beach on our trip in July but, while browsing these boards I came across tripadvisor.com and the reviews on the site were not at all good!! Mainly saying it was overpriced (we are paying £74 per night) old fashioned and bad service.

I am now worried that we may end up in an overpriced fleapit

Has anyone got any experience of the Hotel - just how good or bad is it and do we need to start looking elsewhere? (If so, all recommendations gratefully accepted)

Sue,

We stayed at this Hotel August 2002 and were quite pleased. I got he impression that the hotel had been refurbished recently, there was skip at the side of the hotel with old carpet and bathroom furniture.

The family room was both spacious and clean with Air conditioning and a balcony. The balcony was not what you are thinking, it was about 12" deep with a railing, more of a guard than a balcony.

We did pay an extra $20 for a north facing room, looking up Clearwater Beach.

The restaurant "Calico Jacks" was excellent both for the evening Seafood buffet and the Breakfast buffet, with fantastic views of the gulf.

There is an outdoor pool and jacuzzi.
