Port Orleans or Animal Kingdow

Hi there. Unsure which hotel to stop in. We are hiring a car but would like to visit downtown disney in the evening a couple of times without using the car how easy is this. What time could we get back on transportation from ther how much would a cab be maybe.

Hi Welcome to The Dibb.

Both resorts will run buses to Downtown Disney so best to pick the hotel that you like the best. We weren't over keen on Animal Kingdom Lodge (found the rooms small and dark) but you will find many others who love it! Port Orleans is a very popular resort and is generally cheaper than AKL so if you are on any kind of budget, Id probably go for that one!

POR has a boat that goes straight to DTD which is brilliant. POR is a lovely hotel but I'm biased as we have stayed her twice (again at xmas) and love it. Have never stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge, we would love to but the cost is an enormous jump for us, nor sure how much taxi's would cost you, but you could always use the disney buses to get there :thumbs-up

I thought the Animal kingdom lodge was lovely especially if you have a savannah room, seeing all the animals from your balcony. Have not stayed at the port orleans so can't comment, we are staying there next year. I would just get the disney transport from downtown disney it is really quick and easy.

Both are lovely resorts, but in different price brackets so cost may dictate which you choose. PO has a boat to DTD but both also have buses which run late until after everything is closed. You might like to sample both by splitting your stay.

Stayed at both of the Port Orleans resorts and AKL ! I would go for Port Orleans French Quarter followed by Riverside if I was to book again ! We were very disappointed with the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

In terms of quality of accommodation, I would never call AKL luxury ! it was far from a luxury hotel.

We have stayed at both AKL and POR. We liked AKL and would have no objections to staying there again. Given the choice tho we would return to POR (prefer Riverside to French Quarter) at any time.

The boat to DTD is handy but I wouldnt rave about it.

I have stayed at both and LOVE both, however if money was no object we would definintely stay at AKL again (savannah view) It is without a doubt the most wonderful place I have ever stayed and we both loved it, it was so special waking up to giraffes, zebras, ankole and other beautiful animals and we spent hours sitting on the balcony watching them, beautiful resort, great pool, great theming, fantastic huge shop, lots of food choice and great staff - oh and loved the room too - a big thumbs up from us :) xx
