We have booked through Thomas Cook and are flying virgin with a 7-bed villa (14 of us going) to be allocated on arrival.
We have stayed in villas before of the 192 and Southern Dunes both were fine but the distance from Southern Dunes stopped us going back to Disney on the night as when the kids got in the pool someone would pipe up let's just stay in tonight can't be bothered travelling 25 mins back, now as I was the driver of a sixteen seater van I ended up doing the takeaway run BK, KFC, MC's etc, I do not want this to happen this year.
So my question is can we find out our villa location before we travel or where can we pester to get near Disney, on our booking it does request to be as close to Disney as possible, but so did some friends who went for the first time recently and they were past Southern Dunes.

Unfortunately you won't be able to find out the exact location of your AOA villa as allocations are made by local agents very near to the time of arrival for tour operator bookings.

Even though certain tour operators use particular management companies their stock of villas will not be constant as owners switch managements companies at their own discretion. Many homes are on long term guaranteed rental schemes but they do not represent the full allocation of villas and in times of need extra villas will have to be outsourced. Even last minute when agents/management companies think they have settled their allocations for a period an owner can place their own booking into their home as it's more beneficial for them and hence disrupt the entire schedule.

Maybe you could try to do some investigation of particular communities to evaluate the relative proprtions of 7 bed homes to see if you can guage the likelihood of one resort over another but there as lots of factors that will affect your final allocation I'm afraid which will mostly be determined by the amount of owner's who rent their homes out to agents and I can't really put a figure on that these days sorry. x :confused2

I hope that makes sense.

Tour operators usually allocate your villa on arrival in Orlando. If you want to choose your own villa & location next time, suggest you try renting direct from an owner.
