I'm not sure if I've seen this mentioned before but there is a company that offers a free cruise and operate out of Port Canaveral. I have taken the cruise myself and I can speak from experience and comfirm that it is free. 80% of the ship is slot machines, blackjack, etc.. They basically want you on board to spend money gambling BUT you don't have to gamble if you don't want to.
A group of us went on a Saturday night and enjoyed their lounge, buffet and outside deck area. Well worth it if you are looking to go and have a bit of fun and sail on the Atlantic. They operate bus shuttle services and have numerous I-Drive pick up points.
Check them out if you'd like: Sterling Casino (http://www.sterlingcasino.com/)

I would say this would be just for the adults. As there isn't gambling in Florida they have to go out and reach International waters and drop anchor to gamble. It would be like being in Vegas, no children on the gaming floor.

jj........ :D
does anyone know if you have to book in advance for a pick up on I Drive? what kind of dress is expected?
It sounds like something I might like ( even though I am not likely to gamble as I don't know the first thing about it)...just seeing the inside of the ship would be good though.

I think the pick ups are standard but you might e-mail them and ask to double check.
For the dress, I saw everythig from t-shrits and shorts to tuxedo's and gowns. I think it is just what you want to make of it.
It was fun, full of gambling and a good night out. Just remember you get what you pay for so since it is 'free' they are focused on the gambling side of the cruise. Yes, the ship does look like those pictures but they do have slots in the hallways, etc. which most of the pictures online doesn't reflect.
It was still worth it to me though.
