Has anyone taken smallish kids on the airboats and if so how do they cope?
We would like to take DD (6) and DS (8) however a bad experience on a speed boat in Newquay is putting my husband off.

Thanks for that,
I feel a lot happier knowing that another youngster has enjoyed it.

The only problem is the NOISE!! They are incredibly noisy which I have seen upset smaller children. They do provide ear muffs, but make sure your kids know what to expect in advance. Imagine a Vacuum cleaner strapped behind your head and you will begin to visualise what you are in for!! Great fun though, and worth doing. Safety seemed first rate. Life jackets are available for all and compulsory for the children.

Sarah - just posted this on another thread: "We're doing a Boggy Creek trip in August, combining it with the morning at Gatorland & the airboat in the afternoon. My Aunt took one last year & she thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a $2 discount coupon on their web-site www.bcairboats.com/ & a video you can watch!!" Hope it helps

Look for the coupon books in the various restaurants/visitor centers. There is a $4.00 off coupon in those.
Also, if you have an Entertainment Coupon Book be sure to use the coupon in there. It is a 50% off coupon and is valid for up to 4 people. There are two in the book so it can save quite a bit if you are a large group/family.

Mapleleaf have tickets for Boggy Creek Airboats.
Pick them up at their office [192] on the way there and save about $5 per person.
Are the boggy creek airboats and gatorland close together then? And could you do both in one day?

mnis!!
Gatorland classes iself as the best half day attraction in Central Florida - maybe for a first timer then a little longer! Boggy Creek airboat rides are only for 30 minutes - give yourself an hour at the most (dependant upon queue!!). Have a look at this link www.bcairboats.com/locations.html to show how close they are! :thumb;
Thanks Earthbound:) You are a great source of help as always:)

ps are the 2 on the road to sanford airport, thought we might do them on last day (flight at 7pm)

We took a 2 year old on a few weeks ago (seems years ago now!) and he loved it, he wasn't bothered by the noise or speed either, the guides also said they have a 15 month old the week before! Your kids will love it!
PS Go early as there are more gators to be seen.

mnis - you'll easily get them done & make your check-in time (about 5ish??) - have fun xXx :thumb:
We did not go to boggy creek last visit because our DD aged 5 does not like noise. We found a place out of the discount coupon books where you could hire the boats and drive them yourself. It is on the 192 and we where out for about an hour. My husband drove the boat and we saw turtles, fish and two gators. We are going back again in October and we will visit here again.

That sounds great Scoop.
Did you get to go where ever you wanted?
Can you remember where it was?
I cant wait to see gators again.
I'm so excited at the moment. I'm nearly packed.

We got back on Sunday after a fabulous two weeks in Orlando. It was the first time we`d done an airboat ride and we went to East Lake Fish Camp at Boggy Creek. There were six of us and we sat in front of the boat (me, hubby, our sons 13 and 12 and hubby`s parents.) It was one of the highlights of the trip for us and we absolutely loved it. Once the ear muffs are on, the noise isn`t a problem. We saw bald eagles, an alligator, different birds, butterflies etc. It was an amazing experience and we will definitely do it again. I can highly recommend it.

I am a Captain at BC and it is the best job in the world!
Some children are bothered by the noise and the wind but that is the exception. Very small children tend to fall asleep early in the ride. (I guess from the hearing protection and vibration of the boat and not from me or the ride!) Some children refuse to wear their hearing protection but most do wear it. Parents might reconsider taking very small infants and newborns because their hearing is to fragile and the hearing protection does not fit a newborn well.
Enjoy your ride!

Sarah,
You get to go where you want to go but the people tell you how far to go and where to turn around so that you are only gone an hour. I think it is nearer marker 13 on the 192 (it is easy to miss) but it is advertised in the discount coupon booklets and the directions are in there. Goo luck in finding it.
