Disney Design Group artist Randy Noble, who created the artwork for this year's Star Wars Weekends logo, will be at the Writer's Stop in Disney-MGM Studios to sign Star Wars Weekend merchandise as follows:
-- Friday, May 28, 4 - 6 p.m.
-- Sunday, June 13, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
EZ-Ds, a new DVD format, are now available at Hess Express stations at Walt Disney World. Once removed from its packaging, you can view the DVD as many times as desired for up to 48 hours. After that, the DVD becomes unreadable and can be discarded.
A new, state-of-the-art Disney Vacation Club preview center opened at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa May 14, 2004. The DVC sales center at the BoardWalk has relocated to the new facility. At the new facility, guests will learn about Disney's vacation ownership program through "an entertaining and distinctly Disney tour experience."
Due to private events, the following Future World attractions at Epcot will close at 5:30 p.m. on May 19: Living with the Land, The Circle of Life, Journey Into Imagination with Figment.
The 999 Happy Haunts Event at the Haunted Mansion in the Magic Kingdom returns this year for the weekend of October 25-27. Three different packages ($2,299.99 per person, $529.99 per person and $149.99 per person) will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. More details will be posted at www.DisneyGallery.com in mid-June.
ESPN will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special event at Disney-MGM Studios July 31-August 1, 2004. During ESPN The Weekend, the Studios will be decked out with sport-related banners and billboards and will feature ESPN personalities and the greatest athletes of the past 25 years in a variety of events:
-- ESPN telecasts set in front of the Sorcerer's Hat
-- star motorcades down Hollywood Boulevard to the stage at the base of Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat for a Q&A session with park guests
-- sports shows in the ESPN Theater, featuring ESPN commentators and athletes
-- a visit from ESPN The Truck, a 53-foot trailer with kiosks that will allow visitors to sample the latest in sports television technology
-- a special sports edition of the game show attraction "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-Play It!" in which park guests can partner with an ESPN personality or sports star to test their sports knowledge
-- an interactive sports area (Soundstage One) allowing guests to relive the past 25 years of sports
-- X Games activities
-- a "role play" area in which park guests can sit at a replica of the SportsCenter desk and read the teleprompter as the highlights roll on the big game
-- an exclusive video of blunders and thrills
-- a final tribute to the past 25 years orchestrated to a Disney pyrotechnics show exploding over the park's 12-story Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat icon
