hi
i've just been reading a trip report where someone didn't rate gatorland to highly (scruffy, boring) we were planning to do an afternoon there after boggy creek airboats but as our schedule is quite full was wondering weather to now give it a miss and do something else instead (i wanted to go to celebration but was out voted)
so to do or not to do that is the question:confused:

one of the main reasons we were going was a friend of DS bought a gators skull there, and he wants one(horrible child). does any one know where else we may get one

thanks
lesley

Lesley - I take it that was a personal opinion.!!! Friends done Gatorland last year & thought it was a great half day - a few shows, exhibits etc - nothing too extravagant - this was built up originally from a gator pit & is still a family concern. It bill itself as the best half day attraction in Central Florida - we're visiting in August & will also take a BC Airboat afterwards!! :thumb:
Gatorland have a web-site at www.gatorland.com/ have a look!

Gator heads can be bought in many of the gift shops on the 192.

Shellworld on the 192 definately sell them,as do some of the shops in Old Town.

As for Gatorland itself, went there with DH a couple of years ago.
Its an OK half day thing, but we wouldnt go out of our way or change any plans just to go there.

Hope this helps

Suzie.

Im sure you can visit the Gatorland shop without actually going inside the attraction.

I hated Gatorland as I hated the way that they pulled the Gators about. The Lamas they have there really smell as well.

l still say don't waste your money, with so many other attractions about.

we were not impressed either - quite expensive too for a pretty boring half day. Like someone else said, once you've seen one gator you've seen them all.

Orlando has plenty more exciting things to offer.

We didn't go because we went to the Keys and on the way back we drove down Gator alley in the Everglades and parked up at the side of the road and in the water were lots of very large gators. Its nice to see them in their natual habitat.

I think that Gatorland is one of those places that should be done once if you have the time.

We went on our last vivit and although we are glad we did I don't think we'll be going again. It is certainly different from all of the other attractions.

Hated it really, the shows felt in bad taste and we weren't impressed, also quite tatty now and looks run down, we were lucky enough to have decent vouchers (half price) from the Entertainment book so it wasn't that expensive but I certainly woudn't recommend it, if you are going to BC Airboats (fantastic) then go to Celebration instead, it's lovely and a world away from the parks!

I love gatorland went there in 1992 and every year i have been back it has got better now with the snake pit, the train ride is good (but my mother-in-law nearly knocked herself out getting of the train)
great half day out
dont go to early in the day

Sorry, another 'no' vote from me. Didn't like it at all and wouldn't go back. By Florida standards it was dirty and rundown and I got the impression they didn't take too much care of the animals.

We have never been but have driven past and to me it looks run down.

With the likes of Disney and Universal doing their thing so well I feel that we would only be disappointed with this place

A much better idea than actually going and a fraction of the cost :D
