Hey,
Off to Orlando at the end of June :)
We are staying in Kissimmee and are thinking about planning a trip to Clearwater beach...
Does anyone know how far by car Clearwater is from Kissimmee? Is it worth the drive?
Has anyone been to Clearwater... whats it like?
Thanks!

Hi
i stayed in Clearwater in 2000 i thought it was really good , i was on International drive the first week and it took me two hours approx to drive there so i guess it would be similar from Kissimee. There was not much doing when i was there in August in the way of nightlife but the beach was great and the sunsets even better the best i have ever seen , i just went to chill really the place does it for me and i am going back in September this year for a meal in the Big Ben pub they will pick you up for free in a london black cab if you are dining there and after that i will watch the sun set over the gulf . Hope you enjoy it too.
We drove to Clearwater Beach from Kissimmee and it took best part of 2 hours although that included an unplanned detour thorugh downtown Tampa and lots of roadworks on I4 last October
It was very worthwhile for a few hours relaxation on the lovely white beach.
Id say its worth it - been 3 times.

We always go to St. Pete`s, but all of the Gulf Coast is fabulous. Highly recommended. Give it a try, you won`t be disappointed.

I`m surprised you didn`t like it there Julie. I wouldn`t call the Don Caesar ugly in a million years!! Perhaps you went to a different part of the beach to where we always go. I don`t think any of it is ugly to be honest, we love it there. The sand is lovely and pale, the sea is warm and you can see little fish swimming in the shallows and there are very pretty shells there. Hubby`s parents came with us and it was their first time there and they loved it. The pier is also worth going to and some of the houses that are down that end, well they have to be worth at least a million. We live ten minutes from the The Gower Peninsula so have beaches very close to home and as lovely as they are, give me the Gulf Coast anyday!!

We had a 2 centre holiday in 2003, week 1 we spent at Shepards beach resort in Clearwater, fabulous, Its a hotel and kontiki bar right on the beach
beautiful white sand and fabulour views, great food and drink, and a minimart right across the street to stock up the good sized cooler!!
the bar has regular entertainments and also a fantastic all you can eat buffet breakfast for about 6 bucks per adult
second week was at our timeshare in orlando, oasis lakes (or the fountains as its now known) which is awesome, beautiful apartment, which I can't recommend highly enough. If you are lucky enough to get a rental there with RCI take it, its a dream
14 days till this years trip, 1 week at the fountains and 1 week in Kissimee at a "gold crown resort" can't wait
