The last 2 trips we've done we headed down to Sanibel for 2 nights and Fort Myers for a week. We now want try somewhere closer to Orlando for our Christmas trip next year but can't make our mind up where. I quite fancy St Petes/Clearwater/Tampa, we would like to stay on the beach. I would be grateful for any ideas/recommendations!
Thanks

Natalie

Tradewinds Grand Island Resort at St Petes, Helmsley Sandcastle at Sarasota or Hilton Longboat Key.

All of these are right on the beach and very nice. Most of the big chains have resorts at Clearwater (Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, HoJo etc) but I find this area a bit crowded. We prefer the quieter resorts down in Sarasota or Longboat Key.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi Natalie we have been to St Petes beach three times to recover from maxing out at the Theme Parks. We like the area could certainly recommend the Tradewinds Resort which is right on the beach. The resort has a mix of good hotel rooms or suites. They have a private beach area with their own cabbanas etc. It is also very convient to shops, restaurants. Hope you find what your are looking for,

Good Hunting,

Isaac.

Agree with Isaac that the Tradewinds Island Grand is lovely. We stayed there for our honeymoon and are going back next year for 7 nights to relax and check out Busch Gardens, along with some serious shopping!! :D :D

Oh plus the Tradewinds Island Grand has three outdoor pools and one small indoor pool. We also like it one of the outdoor pools is adult only. The restaurant called the Flying Bridge is great as it overlooks one of the pools and the beach.
