I am going to be staying in the Crowne Plaza Universal but am not taking a car. Could anyone tell me what restaurants are close by i.e., denny's, golden corral etc?? We don't mind walking (if there are pavements).
Thanks

I suggest you have a word with Elisebutt, she's not long back from there, or take a look at her Trip Reports, I am sure she put loads of info in them too

Hi epcotfan. We are staying at the Crowne Plaza Universal in November and stayed near it at the Days Inn Lakeside in april/may. As it is near the Sand Lake Rd/I-Drive crossroads you will find in walking distance:-
Golden Corral
TGI sports grill
McD's Gormet
Perkins
Denny's
I-HOP
Popeye's Chicken
Fish Bones Resturant
Also a short walk away is a 7-Eleven store for snacks
Hope this of help if you want anymore info let me know

Can anyone who has stayed in this hotel tell me if all the rooms have fridges or just the club rooms?

Hi!
Have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Crowne Plaza Universal, and I must say it's one of the very best hotel's we have ever stayed at!
As for fridges, they don't come in standard rooms, although you can have one for an extra cost of $15.00 per night (a bit expensive for 2 weeks!). They have an ice machine on every floor which is free, so if it's just for keeping drinks cold, use the ice machine!

Stayed there last week, really impressed with the room and the hotel in general.
Our room was front facing, from seventh floor it provided an excellent view of the best lightning display I've ever witnessed, the room had a fridge, CD player and a keyboard for hi-speed internet access ( $10.55 for 24 hours ) through the TV, really comfy bed with down pillows.
When we arrived we ignored the Valet Parking and self-parked at front of hotel lobby, which saved $8.00 per night ( plus tip ).
The REALLY heavy thunderstorm meant we couldn't walk the one block to I-Drive so against our usual practice we tried the hotel's on site restaurant, the rain was so heavy we couldn't drive either !
The food at Aranjo's Bistro was really good, my steak and shrimps were delicious, later we tried a pizza from The Market Cafe, also very good, and finished the night watching the storm from Chat's Lounge with a few bottles of Sam Adams Boston Lager ( no draft beers ). Thumbs up for this hotel's on-site food.
If you look at expedia.co.uk, find full details of this hotel including photos and a virtual tour.
