As if booking the holiday, planning an itinerary and packing are not enough - I have also thought of a strategy for planning my itinerary too!! How sad am I?!! No, actually, don't answer that!!

Here goes ....

(1) Find busy days chart
(2) Find opening and closing times of all parks to be visited
(3) Note early entry days for each WDW park
(4) Plan each day of holiday based on all of the above information
(5) Post itinerary on Itinerary Board of the DIBB
(6) Take on board all useful comments and amend where necessary
(7) Print itinerary, read thoroughly several times! *

*It's funny how some things only hit you after the tenth time you read it!!

Zoe - I've done all of that apart from No 3 as we're staying on I-Drive!! Pretty much the same battle plan though!! :thumb:

Zoe, do you think there's any danger of 'over-planning' and losing sponteneity in your holiday? Will you feel under pressure to stick to your plan if things change (eg weather is inclement, a day in bed because of a tummy upset, etc)? We normally make sure that we know park opening times, parades and shows, any PS bookings we've made, but after that we just play it by ear and follow our instincts. If I had to follow a plan, even one I'd made, I feel that I wasn't in charge of my holiday!

There's no room in my plans for

Illnesses
Bad weather
Spontaneity
Tiredness
Unexpected shows/parades

None of the above is allowed to happen and won't happen.
There's no room for manoeuvre away from my itinerary whatsoever!

;) ;) ;)

Well Said!! Have instructed DW & DD's not to partake in any of the above mentioned activities without prepaid tickets!!

We are going with friends and I was showing them all the early ideas and itinery I had in mind the other day. They looked a bit worried and I think they are changing my name to Major.

Chris, mmmmm, that's an idea! Where can I buy

(a) A ticket for a late lie in which DH will want
(b) Insurance policies against illnesses and bad weather
and
(c) A cure for spontaneity, tiredness which DSs and DH will suffer from?

I am not sure about what to do about unexpected shows and parades. Maybe I should get an insurance policy for needing to extend the holiday so we can fit these in. What do you think?

minnyinapinny - as far as I am aware, most members of the DIBB are also known as "major" or sargeant major by their families!

My kids have now read the plan and are snapping to attention whenever I walk into a room. Found the middle one making" bathroom vouchers" yesterday as a joke as he said if we didnt make them I wouldnt let them go!!!!!!!!!!!
DH HAS NOT SEEN PLAN YET!!!!!!!!

poet - judging by your children's reaction, I suggest you keep quiet about the plan regarding DH! But, then again, suspect the children will have or will tell him all about it!!

After our "planning" evening last night I can really relate to these comments!!! My sis and DH just sat and sniggered at me.....and kept commenting that I hadn't planned for toilet breaks and therefore they wouldn't know how much to drink each day.

Glad I'm not the only "major" out there!! Also would agree that sick days, tiredeness etc are not allowed on holiday...i certainly would not be printing vouchers off for them....god that would o9nly encourage them to use them!!!

Definitely agree - toilet breaks need to be scheduled in! Perhaps we should only allow a certain amount of time for meals and sleep? Swimming costume changes will also be timed - anyone who takes more than two minutes will be penalised!

Brilliant - what would the world do without us organised women. How do I find the early opening times?

1 minute 25 seconds for toilet breaks.
Make them wear clothes over Swimming Costume - no changing time - those 6 minutes to change are such a waste!
