Hiya! I am sooooo looking forward to thins ride :D however, i dont know what it actually entails? Do you just go into a lift thing - stand up and wait to drop? are you strapped in or anything? Is it a bad ride to do if your scared of heights or do you not notice the height? Its just my BF is really scared of doing this ride and I am desperate to do it, but dont want to alone? So am trying to persuade him - although its proving to be difficult?

Any help?

faye :D

HI Faye

Don't worry the advert is very misleading.... you are seated in 2 rows of 3 either side of a middle aisle and then 5 people in the back row, you have lap belts.

The ride is on a random select programme, so you don't know how long it is before the drop, how many drops there will be or how many times you will be sent shooting back up......

This ride is brilliant and I am such a scaredy cat at the best of times........tell him to go on he will not regret it...

Great ride not to be missed. Nowhere as scary as it's name and reputation suggests. Do it once and you will have no fears of doing it again.

Go for it.

Go for it, it's an absolute must!!! I had my reservations before we went but once I'd been on it I went on 4 more times!!!! As the ride now has random select programme, each ride was different. FANTASTIC.

This is without doubt the coolest ride on the planet!!!!!!!!!

Do it, if only once, you have to experience the theming as well as the actual ride. I was scared poopless the first time. It is my favourite ride anywhere and its gonna take something special to top it.

Enjoy.

PS You must get front seats, and if you can dont hold on, you cant beat that drooooooooooooopppppppppp feeling............:D

I must be very easily scared compared to you folks. I went on this ride twice when it 1st opened and not as scary as I believe it is now and I will never do it again. I only tried it again the 2nd time to see if was as bad as I thought and it was worse because I knew what was coming. When the lift doors opened and you could see outside I thought I was going to have a heart attack, then when it dropped I had time to scream, stop screaming and scream all over again before it stopped.

It's even better with just the seatbelts, instead of the lap bar, it really adds to the thrill, it's just fab, best ride ever.

i think hes most bothered about this ride because hes really scared of heights and feels that this ride will make him scared - will it affect someone whos scared of heights?

I am petrified of heights and I love, love , love this ride.
I feel safe because I am in an enclosed space. You dont see a vertical drop - the only time you see outside is when the window opens at the top before the drop.

i'm a real wimp but went on this ride on our last visit 5years ago and thought it was fab. i think the anticipation is worse than the actual drop. those who have been on it will know what i mean.

Great ride but frightens the life out of me, yes it is the build up , the ride iiself is great fun. I have been on it 6 times but the anticipation everytime is so scarey!

l'm petrified of heights, enclosed spaces and especially lifts. l did it and it scared the pants of me but not because of the height thing. You have no idea really that you are up high. l kept my eyes shut except for once which happened to be right at the moment the doors flung open !!!!

So if its just the height thing, it really is no big deal. The ride is fantastic and although l will never go on it again l'm so glad that l did it. You must get him on there :jump: :jump:

I cannot stress how much you need to go on this ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we went last October, MGM was the first park we visited and it being my BF's first trip to WDW, of course the first ride I made him go on was ToT!

What a hoot it was to watch his face, he was soooooooo scared :D He knew it was going to drop but didn't realise there was a story along the way so kept sitting there going "when's it going to drop?" about a gazillion times :)

But afterwards he couldn't wait to get on it again, it really is a must do :)

Just make sure that he doesn't get the back row middle seat. This seat does not have any lap belt, just a flimsy chain to hold you in place. To my mind, this lets you know that the ride is not too severe or they would make sure all seats have lap belts.

Well I would say it's similar in that it drops but that's as far as I would go! We went on Dr Doom last year and were highly disappointed, as it broke down so we were just sitting waiting on the ride for ages and then when it did work, it was such a let down.

ToT is by far the better ride, it has great setting so even when you are queuing, it is fun (ok maybe not for 2 hours in 100F heat!), and a great story all the way throughout the ride.

Chris, ToT is the ride at the end of Hollywood Boulevard in MGM (go into the park, walk straight ahead and take a right all the way past the Fantasmic entrance). You can't miss it, a huge 13 story building! It is a thrill ride where you get into an elevator which "supposedly" is taking you on a tour of the hotel, when it suddenly goes all the way up to the 13th floor then drops unexpectedly several times. At certain points, the doors will open and you can see the whole park, it really is something :)

Ohhhhhhh,
You mean Hollywood Hotel and not Hollowood Hotel !
Why can't people read what they write before they post it ??
