Hi guys....
help needed again as I am still very confused about hopper tickets...sorry!
We are travelling as group but arriving on different days etc. My my brother and his girlfriend want to purchase a hopper ticket to use for the 2 days they have in Orlando. Can the remaining days then be given to my mum and dad to use 2 weeks later when they arrive in orlando?
What are the control measures in place to stop this happening....do they use the finger print scans? Is ID checked at the gate when you initially activate the hopper ticket and then checked each time after, to make sure its you using the hopper ticket???
I am really confused as to how this could work out for us, as my brother and my parents have the same family name, but obviously his girlfriend who will be using the ticket first before hopefully passing it on to my mum, has a different surname to our family.
Thankfully my boyfriend and I are purchasing the 10 day tickets as we are in orlando for 3 weeks so we have no problems, but the rest of our group is only around for the odd day here and there, hence why we hope to be able to pass the hopper tickets to other family members, once the others have gone home.........
PLEASE PLEASE can someone tell me if this is possible, as we dont want to waste the extra money on the hopper tickets if my parents wont be able to use the remaining days...and then have to pay extra for single entries .....
I am soooo confused so if someone could explian the process to me of what happens once you initially try to use your hopper ticket at the first disney park.....and what happens each time after I would be so so so so grateful and I will serve you first if you ever come to Epcot to visit between December 2004-05 when i will be working in the UK pavillion in merchandise!!!!
Thanks everyone

There are no names on our hopper tickets, it just says adult or child. We did buy them two years ago so unless things have changed I can't see a problem. My information is not much use really 'cos alot could have changed since then. :D

Officially the tickets are 'non-transferable' which means legally you can't give them to someone else to use. However I'm not sure how they'd actually know?

Thanks for that that sounds promising...
but does anyone know what happens once you actually get to Disney....do you have to be finger printed or write your name on it or anything????

Have'nt been to Disney since 2000, when we used what was left on a 5 day hopper pass that had belonged to a friend. We had no problems at all. It seems to me that the days are paid for, so why should it matter who uses them. I am sure some one will know the answer for sure.

Isaac.

We had 10 day passes last time and had to do the fingerprint scan thing, and we definitely had to sign the tickets.
I have heard they don't get you to do this with the hoppers, but I wouldn't be too sure.

Finger Print Scans are used for the Annual Pass Holders; obviously there would be a danger having an Annual Ticket just being passed around!
Before we were AP Holders, we had length of stay (all on the Room Key) and there was no security on use of them.
However, as previously stated, the tickets are legally non-transferable.

There is no finger scan or signaure required for hopper passes, however you must get your hand stamped when exiting a park if you intend to re-enter that or another one.

The tickets are marked as non-transferable however I know people who have bought used hopper passes with days left and have used them without any problems at all.

We've always had 5 day hopper passes (on trips in 98, 01 and 03), the type you buy off of the disney.com site, not the hopper plus passes you get over here. They have never had any names on them, you don't sign them, they don't fingerprint, photograph or dna test you, so anyone could use the unused days on them.
Would have thought disney would have tried to tighten up on this one?
There used to be a bit of a roaring trade on some internet sites for the unused days! not sure if that still goes on.
Haven't tried it personally as we've not got anyone to give them to. But a colleague at work had a few passes between two family groups who were visiting at different times and they used each others with no problem.
With the 5 day you just put them into the turnstile on the first day and then just enter as normal via inserting the tickets into the turnstile each day after. I think the 10 day hoppers have different rules but the 5 or 7 day don't seem to be as security concious!
Hope it helps

We were in WDW at the beginning of the month with our 7 day hoppers obtained from Maple Leaf Tickets.
The tickets have no names on them, nor was there anywhere to sign. We did not have to have fingerprints read.
We had our hands stamped on leaving parks in the afternoon for re-entry in the evening however the hand stamps where never looked at when we returned to the parks the same day. To re-enter the parks we put our tickets back through the turn-stile machines. When questioned, we were told by a cast member that the hand stamp was only used if their system went down. Normally, their computers recognise those tickets that have been used previously in the day and do not take off another day.

Hoppers are transferable, not legally, but there is nothing in place to prevent it, and since they are only valid for a limited number of days, I don't suppose Disney lose out if Mum uses them on Monday and Grandma uses them on Tuesday.
All the 'unlimited entry for x number of days' type tickets, like 10 day passes, I assume the FITS 30 day pass, and AP's require a fingerprint scan

off course the down side of this is what i put in my previous thread that if they get lost or stolen you cant proove they were yours as disney wont replace them

Well, for the last couple of trips we have had the 10 day hoppers and we were required to sign the back AND our fingers were done on the biometric scan every time. On a couple of occasions mine didnt work (they can be affected by magnetic fields and credit card strips) I had to sign a piece of paper and they checked that it matched the back of my ticket.
I would say most people who went through the turnstiles were required to have the biometric finger scan. I thought the only exceptions were 1 day tickets???
I would be careful about transferring the tickets...it certainly wont work if the first person to use it has to have the scan. Subsequent users wont match and you may have some embarrasing explaining to do.

10 day passes are not called 'hoppers' they are called the World Pass, and they are require a finger scan. hopper passes do not.
If you photocopy the back of your passes then you should be able to get them replaced, regardless of what sort of pass they were. They can check how many days were used and cancel the old pass and reissue them.

Bev, the 10 day pass we had wasnt the "World Pass" but the UK only special offer 10 Day Hopper...maybe they treated it in the same way as the 10 day WP, but it was sold as a Hopper not as a World Pass. I still have the old tickets and it clearly says "10 day hopper pass" printed in computerish type on the back!! Maybe for admin reasons they treated them in the same way as the World Pass though as it is effectively the same ticket isnt it??

Thanks to everyone for your help regarding the hopper tickets......you have put our minds at rest regarding our 5 day hoppers (I know the 10 day ones require us to sign and fingerprint as we used them when we went last September - and security was strict as my boyfriend and I did a control test to see if we could use each others ticket and we couldnt....the fingerprint scans failed to let us through and the attendant got really snotty about it to us and gave us a right telling off for daring to use each others tickets - he was not a happy bunny!!!))
Thanks again guys......

so if you can photo copy them and get them replaced if lost or stolen then why say in the first place canot be replaced if lost or stolen?

I guess they don't guarantee it - but many people have reported that they have had lost tickets replaced by Disney. They need to know the numbers on the back of the ticket though, hence the photocopying, and they will ask you lots of questions about where you bought them from and how they were used etc, so ensure that they are really yours.
We have 3 "5 Day Hoppers + 2 Options" with 2 days left on each tickets, plus the 2 options left from our last trip in Sept 2002.
2 belong to us, but 1 belonged to a different person.
We had to sign the back of our tickets before we used them and if I remember correctly they were sometimes checked. I think it was more because it was around Sept 11th.
But we are planning to use the other ticket this Sept, we will use our own first and then play it by ear. If we are unable, but I feel pretty confident that it will be okay, we will buy extra when there.
I would just go for it, just act dumb and say you thought you could if pulled up. :confused2

Just to add to other comments:
We just returned, used the UK 10 day passes that required fingerprints. We tried swopping passes and sure enough they didn't work. The CM was OK with us but said to be careful or we might be asked for photo ID.
My pass was always a bit dodgy - I went into Guest Relations (within a park, if that makes any difference) and they just gave me a new pass. I *think* I then had to rescan my fingers the first time I used it. I wonder if I could have passed the new pass on to someone else to use?
Contrary to other comments, not many people seemed to be scanned.
The other slightly strange thing was that hand stamping varied - when we left on some days the CM's weren't stamping and said it didn't matter, on other days they stamped as normal. I don't recall actually having the stamp checked on re-entry at all.

We bought 10 day hopper passes when we booked our holiday with Virgin. These are shown as 'World Passes' & we had to exchange the Virgin vouchers for passes at Animal Kingdom (even though we were staying on Disney property).
The conditions on the back state that it should only be used by the owner. There is an issue date & also a space for a signature on the back, although we found that they rarely check these on the gates. Fingerprint checks were made the first few times we used them, but not all the time. The passes are only printed on card, not plastic, and we both had to get them 're-magnitised' a few times, when the fingerprint devices failed to recognise us - in fact we both ended up having competely new cards in the end (with later dates on them as well - not sure if means the dates were extended, as we are back home now!)
