In preparation for the upcoming 50th Anniversary and Celebration of Disney Theme Parks, the Magic Kingdom Park will be painting the lower half of Cinderella Castle.

As we all know, Cinderella Castle is a major focal point for Guests and Cast, so it will be important for Cinderella Castle to look its best.

The painting project will begin Monday, June 14th with the following schedule of events:
June 13 Drain Cinderella Castle moat 12-18 inches in order to install the scaffolding.
June 14 - 20 Scaffolding installation will take place when the Park is closed. Scaffolding will be installed with regular scrim during installation, but will have castle block printed scrim for duration of project.
June 25 Refill Cinderella Castle moat.
June 21 - August 22 All block work on the lower half of Cinderella Castle will be painted (lower turrets down to water line). Most of the work will be done while the Park is closed, with minimal work during Park operating hours (behind the scrim).
August 22 - 28 Remove Scaffolding.

Hope this does not spoil the viewing of the castle while we are there:( :(

DD is so excited to see the castle.

Does anyone know where you can get a list of what rides are in rehab for WDW and US/IOA:confused:

As far as I know, they are just repainting the stones, clearing the waterway and some minor repairs.

Thank goodness it will be finished by September, there was work going on in September 02 that spoiled our photos.

There was a huge crane by it and whichever angle you shot at, you could just not hide it.

Have just returned and the castle looks pretty good, they have painted the covering to look like the castle so it really isn't that noticable.
