Hi all
Just booked a villa for Oct 2010. We are new to this type of accommodation and wondered if they contain a safe. There was no mention of it when we booked it. Are safes in villas common? Just wondered as been used to keeping passports, cards etc in hotel safes not trailing them round with us.

hi shona
only one villla ive stayed in has had a safe, my guess is if it doesnt say it wont have one , but id double check, they arent essential tho :D
we have stayed in numerous types of villas, some with safes...most though without. Villas tend to have better security than a hotel room , with proper alarmss, sometimes remotely monitored.....best bet is to ask the owner

We have a safe in ours too and it seems to be becoming more common. I would ask the owner to confirm.

Hi Shona
Have you booked directly with the owner? If so, why not ask them?
If you've booked via a TA, they might be able to help you?
Personally, we have a floor mounted safe for our guests, as we know that many people have been used to having one before.
Hope this helps a little?

I have a safe and a monitored alarm. TBH the alarm is more useful than the safe!
You need to check with the owners whether they have one as lots don't!

Wow Were all earlybirds this morning
I would also check with the owner if you can, we have a monitored alarm system and floor mounted safe and have just installed a pool alarm to the patio doors so children are safer.
The villas around me have none of these How do I know because the Managers use tour operators for bookings and there are no stickers to show. If you look at my picture you will see the garden sign and the garage stickers:tiggerbou:tiggerbou
Only one of the Villas we have stayed in have had a safe, unless you book direct with the owner and know which villa you'll be staying at there no way of telling! Each villa varies tremendously, as each owner has different ideas and personal preference!

It's up to the individual owner, suggest you check direct with them.

Thanks Tracy and everyone else!
Have booked through Charter Travel not with villa owners direct, assume villa would be safe enough without it but will check nearer our departure date (Bella Vida resort OCT 2010)
