We have done a flydrive tour before but the distances between places where not that far. I really fancy doing a similar tour to VH king of the road one, just wanted to ask:-

1. has anyone done this trip?

2. Has anyone took their kids on a long fly drive and how were they?

Thanks:wave:

Have you considered booking an independant trip?

We have booked a few fly drives using google maps. You can calculate the drives between destinations, and even find hotels along the route. We then check reviews on the hotels using Tripadvisor, then make lots of phonecalls to book everything and pay for hotels/motels when on the trip, or, go to a travel agents and see if they can help organise so you can pay for the holiday in advance!

It's fun organising and you get the trip you want!

Many thanks for your advice. Hadn't thought of using google, great idea.

Definately want to book all myself. I find it exciting organising the route and hotels etc.

The planning is one of our favourite bits, it makes the holiday last a lot longer than just the trip itself, my husbands favourite part is pre-programming his tomtom before we depart. Have fun, and keep us all posted on what you decide to do.

I have done a few driving tours just my DH and I and we love them. We have 2 DD (9&12) and have travelled to many places general on sightseeing type trips, but we would not yet consider a traditional driving tour as they would be too bored to be in a car looking at scenery day after day. 2 or 3 centres with a flight or drive between work best for us. For instance this winter we flew to LA and drove up into the mountains (Mammouth) to ski. This is a long drive through some amazing scenery but they didn't really appreciate it.
I hope this helps
